Question about a car GPS Garmin or Magellen?

I need one of these. I don't need bluetooth or voice to text but still want a good one. I heard the Garmin lock up sometimes. What would you recommend and why. Thanks.

I would go with the Garmin in a heartbeat. We use them all the time and never have a problem.

Right now a great buy at Amazon is the Garmin 250W. A great wide screen display. No Bluetooth, voice to text or movie shows - just a good GPS. It comes preloaded with maps of the US & Canada, has a very nice intuitive user interface and is only $235 postpaid. It is a great buy.

If you don't need maps of Alaska or Canada get the 200W for $200

InfoWorld affiliate PC World#39;s Dennis O#39;Reilly takes Garmin#39;s high-end GPS system, the Nuvi 680, for a spin.

Bought a Garmin Car GPS 765T wiyh Bluetooth and Traffic. Is the Traffic information only working on the HIghw?

Order a Lifetime Traffic suscription and set it up on my Gps, but it show me not the traffic Icon on the front Display.

How can I connect my Garmin GPS to my car stereo so it interrupts my music when it says a command?

I want to connect my Garmin Nuvi 360 to my Mazda 6 car stero. I know how to connect it via an FM modulator, but can I make it so it will interrupt what I am listening to in order to state the commands (not over the music)? Any thoughts?

No, but you can play MP3 files through the car stereo from the Garmin Nuvi if you use a cassette adapter.

Download your MP3 audio files to the Garmin and play them while you're driving. The Garmin will interrupt the music when it needs to state a command. Use a cassette adapter (they usually come with CD players) and hook it up through the headphone jack and to your cassette player so you can hear the Garmin through the car's stereo!

Can i hook up my Garmin GPS through my car stereo?

I know you can put MP3's on it and would like to hear the songs through the car radio rather than the weak GPS speaker.


It depends on what model of Garmin GPS you have. If yours has a FM transmitter then you can set it so that you will hear the Garmin over your FM car radio. An alternative would be if your unit has Bluetooth. If the Garmin has Bluetooth and your FM car radio has Bluetooth you can set the bluetooth to broadcast through your car radio. If you are unsure if your model has these features, go to http://the-portable-gps.com/garmin-porta ble-gps.html if you have an older model then click on "Discontinued Garmin" . In either case you will see a comparison table showing the features of each model.

Does it cost to have the GPS service or do i pay only for the device?


no you won't unless you want traffic up dates then thats an additional service that the co. offers if you go to best buy circuit city look for open box item you will save at least 50 bucks because someone before you was ethier to stupid to use it or they spent too much at the mall. i spent 259.00 on a garmin 340 with the reteail price was 499.00 new got it open box haven't got lost since.
