I want to buy a car (GPS) navigator and I live in USA,
What are the points I should consider to get most appropriate one.
Is brand name important?

Really the brand name isn't that important because the market is very competitive and if one brand had a less reliable or accurate chipset then it would lose a lot of the sales they would normally get.

A lot of devices actually use the same chipset too.

You should find one that you think has a nice user interface and that is friendly and easy to use. Garmin and TomTom both have outstanding user interfaces.

Consider the screen size too - If you're using it for navigation in a busy driving environment voice prompts like "Turn left in 200 feet." are also nice to hear.

i am a realtor so i dont need any maps for foreign countries but i would like something that will re-route me if a road is closed.. price is not an issue.. i dont necessarily want the most expensive but the best for the price.

fantastic unit, you will love it. does re-routing on the fly, knows every street in the USA pre-loaded in memory

comes with cd software so you can do route planning from your pc.... was 1100.00 when it came out 2 years ago.
