I am looking to buy a golf gps system and am confused with the types available and what they do. I would also like an opinions on which is the best. Thanks
I use a caddy lite gps.
It costs around £140 and comes with 2 courses free, you can pay for each course or pay an annual subcription.
It gives yardages to hazards, front middle and back of the greens.
You can also use it for practising and it gives your average distance for each club.
It's ideal.
I reviewed the top 5 Golf GPS on the market here is the list. #1 Sonocaddie V300 Golf GPS www.amazon.com #2 Garmin GolfLogix GPS www.amazon.com #3 ...
My fiance has a blackberry pearl cell phone and t mobile is his carrier. He wants Golf GPS and heard that it could be hooked up into the cell phone. I was wondering if anyone knows about the whole Golf gps and if there's software or something that could be compatible with the cell phone.
YES
GolfTraxx... Currently works for 88xx, 83xx (curve) and Pearl with the GPS enabled. (Folks at VZN will have to buy an external GPS receiver and bluetooth sync.)
Provides distance to Front, Center and Back of the Green, tee shot target on par 4s and 5s. On courses that are mapped in detail - distance to layup or carry over multiple hazards per hole.
GolfTraxx is community based, meaning all courses are mapped by users. It is FREE when you send in a map of a course they don't have, or you can buy it for 30 bucks. GolfTraxx ALSO has versions for WMobile, Palm OS and Pocket PC operating systems.
Basically, zero cost for an even better experience than you get with the GPS bricks out there. = )

I am thinking about getting a range finder for golf . . .
Do you have to get a membership to skycaddie in order to use it for golf courses?
Also, would you consider a laser rangefinder or a Golf GPS better all around?
Whatever your answer, which do you think is the best laser or GPS on the market?
A) get a GPS much better then a rangefinder (I've had both)
B) SkyCaddie is great & you can map your own courses for free or subscribe to yearly fees
C) I had a Nikon rangefinder & it worked well
Price: $459.99

I want to get some sort of golf course GPS, but they can get pretty pricey. I see various programs for mobile phones, but I haven't found anything that works on my new Samsung Instinct. Any suggestions?
I think there are some free application at the website below, not sure about a golf gps application.
I am looking to buy my fiancee a GPS for her birthday. We also love golf and have considered getting a GPS for golfing alone. That said, is there a GPS out there that could double as a "most of the time" in-car GPS system and then could get pulled easily from the car and put into our golf cart at the course? Price is not a huge object (though I don't have an infinite budget). The main feature is the in-car GPS, but I would love to get one that could be used on the course as well with pretty widerange course map support. Thanks in advance!!!
Any of the small Garmin line should work for you. They average from $399.00 to about $1,295.00 depending on the programs and features ordered.
