I want to be able to turn my ipaq into a gps but don't know how.?
IMGP0051

I have an Ipaq 3630 and I don't know where to get a gps receiver or whatever is needed to make it a gps for my car. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have used a HP4150 (which has bluetooth) to run TomTom Navigator software with a TomTom bluetooth unit. I have also used a garmin geko 201 with the same TomTom software and pda. I would suspect that any buetooth gps unit will work.

To use the geko, I just changed the TomTom setting from bluetooth to serial port and configured the geko to support 2400 baud.

For long trips you will need power to recharge the units. You can use the original power cords and a car inverter. You can also buy custom cables that plug into your vehicle cigarette lighter power socket. (Look at the links on this page for cable info: http://www.a2dvoices.com/realitycheck/gp s/ )

Can I install software on HP iPAQ GPS System Pocket PC - RX5915 travel companion?
Route info tolling

Yes you can install software like any other Pocket PC - Its a Windows Mobile 5 device.

Also of note - it does come with 2gig of storage space but most of that is taken up by the pre-installed GPS maps.

You'll have access to about 300 meg - which is still a LOT more than most Pocket PCs.

Why do I always get a message saying 'no GPS signal' when trying to use the tomtom program on my iPAQ?
3D Map direction

I have connected my solar GPS to power supply and I have inserted the memory card into my iPAQ.

Thanks for your help

just go drive your car then the tomtom will respond if it doesn't u should reinstall the software ;)

Yeah I was wondering about the single-handed thing. The el-cheapo eTrex I played with today seemed okay, but there a few things that could be nicer such as how it'll only go forwards through the pages, and I was also wondering if the 60CSx is any easier for things like entering text to name waypoints, etc. It took a while and quite a few button presses on the eTrex. I've yet to see a touch-screen that I actually like using. Their claim to fame is supposed to be ease of use, but it's entirely because people get to interact directly with things shown on the screen. It's probably true in that respect, but I think the Easy-To-Use label for touch-screens ignores a heap of other problems that touch...
