gps satellite maps

Do people have to open some wireless service account after buying a car map GPS device.

The GPS signal is free to everyone on planet Earth to receive and use (not all places receive the signal though). There is no monthly fee associated with normal service (although there were some elaborate systems which charged a fee to upgrade maps).

Your cost would be money to either buy batteries or pay the electricity needed to recharge the device. Have fun!!

I don't think this would be difficult, and you could even make it an option that could only be activated when you pull over and park. It could just give you a current weather satellite map.

You are right, it shouldn't be difficult and it isn't. The problem is that when you buy a GPS for your car, you get the maps and that's it. If you want new maps, you have to subscribe to it. Likewise, weather is a daily service that needs subscription.

I am the Norwegian data provider for PocketFMS, a GPS moving map, flight planning and weather provider for light aviation. There, we provide both maps and weather on the same screen. But you need a yearly subscription. That allows you to downloard the weather and the aviation maps which are updated worldwide every 28 days.

Can not get GPS on Blackberry Maps to connect to the GPS mode. If selected it stays in searching for satellite but will not find or connect to the satelite. Need help on this one. Any free GPS app for blacberry out there? What is a good one. Thanks

Windows live search has turn by turn directions using your GPS and is free. You could also try Where (thats the name of the app)...or google maps.
They are all free.
