what is the uplink and downlink frequency GPS satellite, time delay for receving the data from the GPS satellite, height of the satellite.
Here is some info:
Frequencies used by GPS include
L1 (1575.42 MHz): Mix of Navigation Message, coarse-acquisition (C/A) code and encrypted precision P(Y) code, plus the new L1C on future Block III satellites.
L2 (1227.60 MHz): P(Y) code, plus the new L2C code on the Block IIR-M and newer satellites.
L3 (1381.05 MHz): Used by the Nuclear Detonation (NUDET) Detection System Payload (NDS) to signal detection of nuclear detonations and other high-energy infrared events. Used to enforce nuclear test ban treaties.
L4 (1379.913 MHz): Being studied for additional ionospheric correction.
L5 (1176.45 MHz): Proposed for use as a civilian safety-of-life (SoL) signal (see GPS modernization). This frequency falls into an internationally protected range for aeronautical navigation, promising little or no interference under all circumstances. The first Block IIF satellite that would provide this signal is set to be launched in 2008.
I am prompted to check the connections when I run the program. The following message appears in the GPS details "need to send reinit signal detected". I have Copilot and a GPS jacket installed. It used to work fine but recently comletely stopped picking up a signal. I believe there is a problem with the GPS device.
If it worked before, you know the limitations, so I'll not consider that.
The message indicates to me that you have a connector problem somewhere, probably the antenna connector.
Best take it to a reputable PC maintainer, or contact the makers.
Price: $199.95
New smaller size, lighter weight
Faster GPS acquisition for quicker 911 response
Sends check in message, capable of tracking, sends help assistance message
Operates under the harshest environments, temperature, altitude
More satellite detection than any competitive product on the market
Can a transmitting device be located by a gps web site? if so, which sites?
The satellites provide a means of locating the transmitter by basic geometry, or sometimes referred to in radio terms as Triangulation.
By taking atleast 2 readings from different locations and seeing where they intersect, a position can be established. The more satellites providing data, the more accurate the result, including elevation.
Some taxi, trucking, courier companies and similar, use GPS to keep track of their vehicles' location by transmitting the received GPS information from the vehicle back to the company base.
I don't know of any sites that do tracking.
The United States has its network, and I think Russia has one too, but I'm not sure. Is that correct? Are there any private ones? How many are there altogether?
There aren't any private ones. The Europeans will have the Galileo system, its is testing now.
By the way, the generic name is "satellite navigation", or Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) .
As of 2009, the United States NAVSTAR Global Positioning System (GPS) is the only fully operational GNSS. The Russian GLONASS is a GNSS in the process of being restored to full operation. China has indicated it will expand its regional Beidou navigation system into the global COMPASS navigation system by 2015. The European Union's Galileo positioning system is a GNSS in initial deployment phase, scheduled to be operational in 2013.
As everyone knows, cellphones set themselves and keep very accurate time. However, I'm still not sure HOW they get the time in the first place.
I always thought cellphones picked up on the time signal broadcast by the atomic clock (WWV radio station) in Colorado, or a similar atomic clock elsewhere (for those not in the U.S.) But someone else recently suggested to me that cellphones used a signal being broadcast from a GPS satellite (or more than one; I don't actually know how many GPS satellites there are).
Does anyone know conclusively whether cellphones set themselves by the atomic clock, or by GPS satellite? Thank you.
Cell phones have had downloaded time since digital phones service started. Prior to that you had to set it. Digital service started before phones had GPS access. The time is set by the service provider. They probably receive their time from WWV.
