gps system tracking vehicle

If a fleet of vehicles were getting fitted with a tracking system so they could be monitored from the office. What do you think the pros and cons would be to set the system up?

pros's, you and the people tracking you always know where your at ,and if in trouble and on a unknown road even at night , system like on star can locate and help, all cell phones can be tracked withing 4 inches of actual location, bad side if you a car thief, or just killed some one they also know where you are, and where you have been , but really that's a upside to, a real down side would be the back up power is dead on the tracking unit and its not working and they cant find your off a cliff that would be a down side

What are the electronic components like modem, capacitors, resistors used in a GPS vehicle tracking system?

WE have receivers made of components such as Inductors,capacitors,Resistors,transistors,transformers.amplifiers,digital to analog converters. etc.

Does anyone have any experience, which are the latest after-market vehicle theft recovery (tracking) systems that also get good reception and work on a convertible? The mounting of the antenna is particularly problematic on older (classic Mercedes) convertibles because the steel dash shields the antenna and other locations, either don't provide enough space or create other problems.

I would like to be able to not only track the car on-line, but also by calling in to check for its current location (for instance, when I am parked in a parking garage in the mall, etc.

I am not interested in LoJack or Teletrac as they do not work well. Also, I would like to be able to track the car myself via internet.

My main problems with the past systems that I have used is that they often did not work, especially when the car is near an airport, inside a garage or in other "dead zones".

for them that know, minor planet is a leading gps tracking company

i know BT do a one too, but are they any more?

reason being i'm wanting a job fitting them so i'd like to apply to them all, although it doesn't seem to me like BT have any of offer at that minute.
