gps tom tom

My father-in-law got one for Xmas and I was trying to find a place (other than the Tom Tom website) to get them for his GPS unit. The official website charges for maps (LAME!!!!)

It should have the latest maps on it. Are you looking for POI (points of interest) files? ie. Starbucks, Harley, Target etc.? If so you can do a google search for free POI and there's a ton of them for free, Also you need to search for POI editor because most of these files are .cvs for Garmin and with the free POI editor you can open and then save them in the TomTom format, then copy them to the TomTom and your set. But as for maps so far as I know you can only get them from TomTom.

What make you like GPS Tom Tom more than Garmin ?
Someone offer me a new GPS Tom-Tom 920T for $425, but i used to have Magellan maestro 4040 & Garmin Nuvi 300.
I dont have any experience with Tom Tom.

Please tell me, what's the good side beside these :
Bleutooth, MP3 player, FM transmitter, text to speech, 4.3" LCD.

i like garmin better than tom-tom. the map for garmin is more detailed(in the US) than tom-tom. Tom Tom is a huge European based navigation system whom is working their way into the US. All those features you listed for the Tom Tom you can have with the Garmin Nuvi 660 for under $400

If I have blackberry pearl, can I install Tom Tom GPS palm version and combin with Bluetooth reciever to use the GPS for no charge?

doubt it. Palm and BB are on different platforms.

Which of the folowing units say the name of the street that you are about to turn on, not just "Right turn in 400 feet" The garmin website has this feature listed as "text to speech" but i cant figure out what it is on the tom tom website. The units i'm interested in are the Tom Tom One, GO 300, and GO 700
