gps tracker

I bought a car that had a gps tracker that could shut the car down if I didn't make payments. Could an improperly installed device cause electrical problems? I have to jump the car every time I want to start it because something is draining the battery. We've changed out the battery twice and replaced the alternator. All the fuses are fine. Thoughts?

In addition, the heating/cooling went out at the same time. Could these be related?
Checked the connections many many times. Not even a little bit of corrosion, and they're fully tightened. The batteries are fine when we get them, but when we've taken them back there will be problems with them, like a short or something.

Have You taken the pos batt. cable loose at Starter and also the small Ign terminal at the Starter and scrape them and rethigten
them. I just finished with a 99 yr, Vehicle they had some "Mech"
replace Batt and Alt about 200 dollars.When i went to check it out
No lights no starter,nothing. I was checking the Ign Wire (small one) and the Pos cable end both at the Starter,It moved a small bit.I tightened 3/4 round not much.It fixed the car.5 min Job,First thing buy a Batt. Hydrometer at auto Zone 5 Dollars,check each cell,you are looking to see if they are about the same.I believe from your statement a Loose connection,That is the first step.in Cold weather loose connections can cause alt and Batt and starter-You said something was draining Batt,that is what I was told,I checked Batt,Good so don"t jump start./Good Luck,I couldn"t charge for a 5 Min job.What do you think the dealer would have Charged?

My parents put a gps tracker in my car. I am in high school and they dont want me to leave campus and are watching my every move. I have no clue where the device is or what it looks like.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me where I would find the device and what i should do once/if i find it.

If it's your car and you pay for it and you pay insurance then I would check with state laws cause it could be illegal but if you don't own the car there's really nothing you can do

I won't go into the soap opera but I have a gps tracking device on my car and I want to turn it over to the police. This is my car and I am an adult. I really would appreciate some advice.

I've been told the tracker emits a signal that can be detected with a divice. Another was to walk around my car with a AM/FM radio with dial all the way to the top so there is static and when static changes rythmically, bingo! Finally, I was told that it is the size of a pack of gum and can only be found by sight.

Do any of these suggestions hold water? Your suggestion for finding? Are there preferred places these things are located?

its no biggie, just ask the Manufacturer...there will tell you which dealership has the tech guy who knows how to get to it...its suppose to be in a secret place anyhow...

Hi,

So I just bought a case for my very expensive camera.

I was to hide a micro gps tracker somewhere inside the case so I can find it if I ever lose it or it get's stolen.

I was thinking of a base unit I could keep in my room that would show me where the tracker was. Does anyone know any reputable/trustful online stores or regular (not online) stores that I could look for this sort of thing at?

The web site below handles this kind of thing. A small GPS tracker may not be as small as you think it is. Don't expect some kind of small, button sized device. Plus you need to be able to receive the signals if the tracked device is lost or stolen. You'd need to pay for this service. You can't just receive this kind of signal out of nowhere. And contrary to what is claimed on this site, don't expect a GPS receiver to work indoors or inside an electronic device. A GPS receiver needs to receive the signal from the satellites and the signal is easily blocked by things like walls, windows, trees, even cloud cover.
