The best feature to have is text to speech. It says the street names not just turn right and left but turn right on this or that street. Thats really nice to have when you are somewhere that you dont know.

I am looking to buy a GPS unit for my husband as a birthday gift. We live in Athens, Greece but we want the language to be in English. I am looking for something with Bluetooth and MP3 compatibility. I have heard mixed reviews about Tom Tom and Garmin - any suggestions? (Budget roughly 400 Euro) Thanks

I am a very regular visitor to Greece, and I have considered to bring my Tom-Tom with me. After contacting Tom-Tom on Internet several times, I learned that there are still no maps available for Greece. Poor performance for a perfect GPS in most of Europe's countries.
During cab trips from Athens airport to the city, I questioned the driver about his 'MIO' GPS which seemed to work well. Maps are available for the Athens and Thessaloniki area only. Also 'GARMIN' is offering same.
Both give you the choice of language; English is always included.
I guess it will take many years before maps for the mainland & the islands will become available.

Garmin, Nuvi 255, it does all the GPS stuff without bluetooth and other features one does not really need in a GPS.

I want to have a GPS Unit for my car for driving direction, but also would like to be able to use it on my bike when I go on long cycling routes. Does anyone know of models that can be used for both, and also a mount for the bike?

garmin has the best and most detailed maps for the US. if you want to have a gps that allows multiple stops and optimize the best path the most economical garmin is the nuvi 750 for under $400
