gps watches

I'm looking into purchasing a gps garmin watch. I'm just curious as to what is the difference in the two watches. I have read that people have had some issues with the 405. I didn't know if maybe the 405cx corrected these issues. Thanks!!!

I am about to start training for my 3rd marathon and would like to invest in GPS watch to tell me my pace/distance. I know the Garmins are popular, but also expensive. I don't want to buy a watch that has more functions that I need but I do want a reliable watch that won't loose satellite signals easily. Any suggestions on what to buy or not to buy?

The Garmin Forerunner 205 would be your best bet, you can google it and find it on some online sites for around $150. Don't get any of the older models of Garmin such as the 50 or 201, I've heard they are the ones which lose receiption when in wooded or tree lined areas.

Hi, I am going on a cruise soon and was wondering if when I run on the track that is on the cruise, will the distance and pace results of my Garmin Forerunner 450 (gps running watch) be messed up because of the ship's motion?

Although I don't have such a watch, I'm quite sure the answer is yes. GPS determines the longitude and latitude and calculates distance, speed, etc from that. Your cruise ship should have a sign on the walking deck that states how far one lap is.

I am a runner and a biker i do over on average 200 miles a week on my bike, and about 35 miles running should I consider a GPS watch are they useful?

I have the Garmin 201 and I absolutely love it. I talked two of my friends into buy the new 205 and 305... They wonder how they ever ran without them. You can keep track of your pace, distance, and with the 305 you can measure your heart rate. You can also load training plans and routes on your computer and then input them into your 305. Training plans can be based on a target heart rate, distance, or pace. You can aslo set it for interval training and what not. I use the Motion Based software that you can access from anywhere once you upload your data and you can get weather and other data. It really depends on you and your goals. My friends and I are training for a marathon and it is great for keeping good data on your mileage and progress.
