kenwood car gps

I am trying to find out if I can over ride or bybass the parking brake on the DVD/ Video, and it still play video while driving. A buddy of mine got the pioneer version and the damn GPS knows that he is moving even with a parking brake switch over ride and does not allow any video to play. Does anyone know about this for the Kenwood DNX7140?

You can override the parking brake wire on the kenwood version.

As far as your buddies pioneer, all he needs to do is take the mute wire on the back, and move the pin down to the same position (L+R) in the next row, and ground the wire. His will then play video too.

i was wondering since my new car stereo player has an USB port, and i can finally resolve my iphone battery issue on long trips, if i charge my iphone through the car stereo player USB plug, would it eat up much of the car battery? since its charging and i may be using 3G network for GPS all at the sametime? i got a kenwood brand car stereo player for 130 bucks at best buy, any suggestions?

i dont think so because the phone uses very small current to charge. since you are not using your setup with high volume while phone is charging, there is no effect to the battery

My head unit has always given me the Aux option to connect my mp3 player in the menu. But just yesterday I tried to switch from cd to aux mode and it wasn't in the list like it has been for the past 2 years. I didn't change any settings or anything, but I did start using a gps that I plug into my 12v power hookup. Any ideas how to get the option back? p.s. The type is kenwood(model kdc-hd942u)

Just buy a new one. You proberly need to update it if you have had it for 2 years, saves alot of hassle

I want to get it for my car and i heard its really good GPS/media player/video player & that it looks good, but i also heard its not that good for a sound system. Is this true? i have no way of telling...

Idk anything about that particular thing but Kenwood is a really good brand. Just search for that particular model and look up peoples reviews. That's the best thing you can do before you buy anything.

A couple weeks ago, someone broke into my car and stole a $1200 stereo system similar to this one: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp? ... We reported it to the police, but they can't really do anything about it and the insurance won't cover it because it wasn't originally a part of the car. Is it possible that I could call Kenwood or something and get them to track the GPS (obviously only if someone is using it)?
It has a GPS system in it.

You can argue with your insurance if you have legal cover, and if your fully comprehensive all should be covered,they'll try anything to save themselves from paying out when the time comes.You have nothing to lose so give it a go.
