I saw it on the Lowrance webs site and then at the Toronto Sportsman's show a couple of weeks ago. It has all the features of a car navigation GPS, plus it also does "straight line" navigation and it accepts the Navionics and Hot Spots type maps, and it's waterproof.

I been beating my brains with this one, I like some features on the Lowrance, but I do not like the fact they have out dated maps and it sometimes freezes. The C330 has excellent reveiws, but it seems simplistic. Does anyone have any experiences with these units???The TomTom has some mapping problems I hear. I want something within the $250-350 range. Thank you!
Garmin is a more reputable brand I would go with it.

I currently own a Lowrance car gps system that is 3 years old. In general, it works pretty well but it is large, bulky and heavy and it's getting to the point where, when I power it on, it takes anywhere from 2-3 minutes for it to find my current location before beginning to navigate. So, I am looking to purchase a new GPS system. I have a few diehard requirements for my new system: it MUST have up-to-date, relevant points of interest. I often want to find the closest Olive Garden, Panera, or Target etc., and I want a system that really has these and other POIs loaded. I also would really like speech recognition and spoken street names. I'd like to be able to auto-sort multiple destinations to provide the most economic route as well as auto re-route and choice of route setup (faster time, shorter distance, etc.). I also like to have the travel time and estimated arrival time on the screen. I've researched Garmin, TomTom, and Magellan but I'm getting a bit overwhelmed. I'd really love to be able to test-drive each system myself but that's not feasible. Does anyone have any recommendations for a quality, reasonably priced gps that has a large POI database (that's relevant, not obscure...I don't care about JimBob's crab shanty) and has at least some of my other preferences? Thanks.
garmin makes the best portable navigations on the market.. you will pay a little more for it but its worth it.. trust me
i just bought a boat and it came with it, batteries are dead on boat so i havent tried to turn on the GPS. but i was wondering will it still work because i believe it was made in 03' and i cant get the upgrade to download off the lowrance website. and can i test it off a car battery? I dont want to spend a bunch of $ on getting a new one if i dont have to.
It should work just fine. Go ahaed and connect it to a car battery to test. Most of these units have an internal backup battery. That may be dead, but once power is applied, the main unit should fire up just fine.
I had a '02 Garmin that had issues, but still worked.
