magellan gps map

I have this (Magellan 1200 gps) but about 4 days ago i lost the SD card; therefore i went to buy it yesterday at Best buy, so i bought the SD card for $25 but i was told that i should have the map downloaded to the SD card for $60..i was just wondering if there was any websites that i can download the map from for free.....i would appreciate that if someone gives me an answer..Thank you

To the best of my knowledge, Magellan DOES NOT offer map download for the Magellan RoadMate 1200.
I would guess the BestBuy salesman maybe mistaken.

Contact BestBuy for assistant since losing the SD card is an issue and Magellan need to find a way to help you if possible.
You should not have to pay $60 for the map download since you already paid for the maps already and it is not an upgrade.

I just bought a refurbished Magellan Maestro 3225. Magellan doesn't allow you to download their map update for free with refurbished units. Is there somewhere on the web I can find these updates without paying 80 bucks?

Looking to buy a handheld GPS unit for geocaching. Considering Magellan Titon 1500 and Garmin Colorado 400. Question - will the Garmin topo Canada software work with the Magellan GPS, or is the software somehow proprietary, such that it will ONLY work with Garmin ?

It's proprietary, go with the Colorado, I'm looking for a new unit right now for caching. Considering the GPSmap60 but more and more thinking I should just go for the colorado, but I already have two pda's that I could use to go paperless.

My husband has a Magellan handheld GPS. He is having trouble getting suitable map software for motorbike riding in the Victorian State Forrest. He needs to have bush tracks, creeks, rivers and location of mountains etc. Any ideas of where to look would be great.
We don't mind buying it.

I take it you don't want to buy the software? The 'Discover Aus Streets and Tracks" is very good, but unfortunately only a few cents short of $400.

I recently purchased a Magellan Roadmate 1412 GPS. This is first GPS of this brand that I've gotten. Apparently the maps are stored on an SD card. Does Magellan provide updates for their GPSes? If so, does it usually mean buying a new SD card with updated maps on it?

When you get your gps usually you need to go to there website and see if theres any undates. Is according to what month the units was made and how long its been at the store. Just go to the Magellan website and see for an update and download it, and you will be fine.
