What with the problem with batteries catching fire or exploding, use the charger that the Razr has made to charge it. Number one reason of fires is using incompatible chargers.

GPS is free, buy the unit and turn it on and it will tell you where you are how to get to where you are going.

Are you talking about a traffic subscription, which alerts you of traffic in a specific area and provides alternate routes...?

I recommend converting your base map temporarily to a maritime setting, this way you will be able to see where you are located relative to the land, as well as the surface beneath you.

OR

If you want an all time GPS for your boat, you7 should buy a hand held from Garmin. They sell a plethora of base maps to suit your need.

The one you have should be able to work even without the other base map, it just will not be very detailed.

I don't care about their price difference

Garmin gives the better directions and fastest routes, and they have updated mapping software. Tom-Tom uses Tele Atlas, which is dependable, but often steers you in the wrong direction. I'd go with the Garmin. You should read this article and then decide.
