What is the DC adapter, is that a charger that you can plug into the lighter? I want to purchase this gps, but it only says 2 hours of battery life.
yes the DC adapter plugs into your lighter and that way you would be able to charge your battery for up to two hours if not more.
I just keep mine plugged in, its not that big of a deal.

Some TomTom products come without a receiver although they advertise like you can get going without any additional purchases. Will I find that after I have bought my product I will then need to purchase a receiver as well, or is that just needed if I want to go wireless?

I bought a TomTom portable GPS navigation for my car but the equipment will only allow you to stick it to the car windshield... I don't like it on the windshield because it blocks my view.. Is there any thing I can buy that allows me to stick it to the dashboard or somewhere else near other than the windshield?

I currently use the big bulky tomtom go 300 and it always seems to loose connection and last time I dealt with tomtom customer service they didn't give me customer service.... instead I got grief and had to end up buying a new sd card and maps.
I want to go for the right nav software for the nokia n95. So far I know of co pilot and mobile navigator 6. Are there any other which are free to run like tomtom? I think the nokia n95 runs on symbian or something .. not too sure.

Yes, N95 is Symbian OS 9.1, I have Tom Tom 6 with maps for smartphone on my N73, I got the software for free lol...
If you don't like Tom Tom, then you should use Route 66, thats pretty good as well, but I think you should use an external GPS receiver instead of the built-in GPS in N95, b/c I've heard that the built-in GPS is only good for the Nokia smart2go software that they have on their website for N95...

When I turn my car on the GPS does not come on automatically. when i turn of the car it stays on 30 sec and then turns off. is there someting i can do to fix this?
You can't fix it. It's not broken. There is no way to get it to come on when you start the car. Some other brands might have that feature, but tomtoms don't.

This item had to be shipped twice – 1st one lost in mail. Delay of 3 weeks. Then when the item arrived, DOA… would never even turn on, much less do any operations. Bad reflection on a “factory refurbished” unit. Normally, a factory refurbished unit is tested more than a new unit… Not this one – good paperweight… Tom Tom tech support could not assist in getting it going. Also, the software they had me download and install bombed my computer to the point I had to have a repairman reformat my hard drive and reload Windows. All in all, not a pleasant experience. Had to return the defective device. Note: this was a gift to a friend…...
