Is a Mitsubishi HD1080 high definition?

It is a projection television.


Yes and no. Technically speaking, the answer is yes. It has a projector unit with HD 1080 capabilties. But being a rear projection screen television, the picture quality isn't going to be as good as Plasma or LCD screen. That's the nature of the beast, the flipside to being able to have an extremely large screen.

P.S. There are two kinds of 1080, 1080i and 1080p, with i meaning interlaced, and p meaning progressive.
They're different projection scanning patterns, if you want to know more look it up. I won't explain here because it's off topic. 1080p is true HD.

    Well the only reason I was going to get it was because of the size and the price if it didn't cost too much to fix, I have a 42" Vizio LCD in the living room now and was gonna put the 62 in here and move the 42 up to the bedroom. But if it's just gonna be that much of a headache I will just try to save some money for a while and get a new 65" dlp at a later date.
