Do I need a High Definition TV or special software to play & edit footage from a High Definition Video Camera?
Let Me Entertain You

I'm planning to buy a High Definition Video Camera such as the Sony HDR-SR11 or Panasonic HDC-HS1000.

Do I need a High Definition compatible Television to watch the footage?

Do I need special software to edit the footage on my PC? Any recommendations? I was looking at 'Corel Video Studio'

Your help is appreciated, thank you.

Hard drive based camcorders suffer from well known high altitude and vibration issues (the hard drive heads park to protect the hard drive platters) and have extra steps for archive file production. As well, they can have data recovery issues in the event of catastrophic failure of the camcorder. Flash drive and miniDV tape based camcorders do not share these issues. Suggest dropping HDD (and DVD) based consumer camcorders from your short list.

ALL camcorders can connect to a TV using composite (Yellow-video; Red-right audio; White-left audio) AV connections. This is analog video. An HDTV is not required.

Most consumer hard drive (and flash memory) camcorders that capture high definition video capture to AVCHD format. These are MTS or MT2S file formats. Before you buy the camcorder, verify from the video editing manufacturer that the video editor you plan to use can deal with AVCHD for editing AND can specifically deal with the camcorder you selected.

What is the best high definition camcorder you can buy? For under $1,100?
Let Me Entertain You

I am going to Hawaii/Oahu for one month and want to remember this forever. I have a high definition television at home. I am going to be hiking, biking, doing everything I possibly can within that time. I was thinking of buying a high definition camcorder to use with my high definition tv. Is it worth the price over a standard camera? Why is the difference so big? Also if anyone has one which shows outstanding quality please say which one it is and how much. I can spend around $1,100 on a camcorder. If there is a great one fore cheaper that is good also! I do not really care about special features, just want the best quality picture that I can get, to show the REAL beauty of Hawaii. Thanks everyone for the help.

P.S. I thought about the JVC High Definition Camcorder with 60GB Hard Disk Drive or Panasonic model HDC SC1. Any advice on those are appreciated as well.

I think you can have a look at Sony HDR-HC7. It is 6.1MP, 10x optical zoom/20x digital zoom..It gets Great video quality in good to great light. Colors are "punchy". And it is on sale now, a decent deal for it is only $970.

Do you need a HD Television to use a Blu-Ray Player and play the movies?
IMG_3650

Do i need a High Definition Television to play and use Blu Ray or can I use my 2006 Panasonic Standard Definition 32 inch tv?

Any Help Appreciated

You can hook up your Bluray TV to your SDTV just to see some pictures or hear some sound

But it will be just like driving Lamborghini on crowded street in India

Get yourself some HiDef TV if you already have good equipment

Not only TV..upgrade your sound system. if you havent get yourself surround system. Now it's the time

It's ok if you still want to drive your Bluray on your current equipment
Just suggest you that, it doesn't look cool at all

How much better are the graphics with a PS3 on a flat screen high definition tv?
IMG_3692

I have a PS3 and a T.V. that is not that great only 27 inches. Just wondering if a Panasonic, Sony or any other brand Flat Screen Television would really make a huge impact. Not a small difference but a huge difference in the graphics? I am a little dissapointed in the graphics for the PS3 and I am wondering is this just because I have a basic tv. Do I need a flatscreen?

You really need an HD tv. Use with an HDMI lead and then see the diference in graphics. My tv is only a 27in but it is brilliant in HD. Good luck.lol

  • Ethiopian News | Plasma TV Review: Panasonic Viera TX-P46Z1

Although televisions have passed the age of major transformations, it is known that the screens and their quality have always been improving. The Panasonic Viera TX-P46Z1 has proved this, as the 46-inch plasma now holds a wireless high definition video transmission – this is something to really be excited about.

Yet again, however, it’s the price which can be a downturn. The Panasonic Viera TX-P46Z1 plasma screen is said to cost approximately £4,200 – it will definitely cause a dent in your bank account. We’re sure that it’s possible to buy a 60 inch TV with that kind of money. But with the 600Hz frame and the 1080p wireless, some say that the Panasonic Viera TX-P46Z1 plasma TV is worth it. Panasonic have evidently attempted to change their style somewhat, with a splay of silver surrounding the plasma screen. Unfortunately, the black bars of the Panasonic Viera TX-P46Z1 have set this style back. It is fairly infuriating when the plasma television is on.
