i have just recently purchesd a high definition plasma t.v.,my query is when t.v.channels tuned in for example channel 9 have station which sais digitial and other sais HD which one should i be watching, personally cant see much differents, which one is better.
Press info or display on your remote
Unless it says you receive a 1080i or 720p channel, you don't get HD.
If you connected an antenna, digital channels are usually decimal (9.1, 5.1, 7.1, etc). Digital does not mean HD and not all stations broadcast HD all the time. When it is HD, you will see the difference.
If you have cable or satellite, unless you get HD service, you are still getting the old SD channels.

We are planning to buy a new television as it will soon be ready for digital (2011) in England and it will be nice for us to have a modern TV as we have one thats only 20 years old.
What TV should we buy. We aren't that fussy but the TV screen probably should be 37-40 inches and should be HD (High Definition) ready and what does 108p mean? Anyway we need a great company that sells great televisions as we currently have them old silver ones with a silver box and a stand that came with the TV.
Our budget is: £500-£700

I am looking to buy a high definition plasma television.
While buying a plasma seems like a good choice, I would suggest going with an LED or LCD television. Actually, manufacturers are starting to phase out plasma's from the market because of the advancements within the LCD industry.
The Sansui 37-Inch LCD TV, Model: HDLCD-3700 has an average price of $600 and comes with a decent screen resolution, 1366 x 768 pixels.
For a higher quality television, I would view the Sharp AQUOS 37-Inch LCD HDTV, Model: LC-37GP1U is about $750 on average and comes with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 - which is high-definition formatting.

Which is better? Which has a longer life expectancy? Which can you see clearly from any position in the room? (Some TVs fade out if you are off to the side, and are only clear if you are more or less directly in front of them.)
LCD is the most practical and will give you an exceptional picture with the right brand. My choice is the Sony Bravia XBR. Life expectancy is similar at around 50,000 hours. Plasma has screen burn-in issues.
I am looking at buying a SANYO DP50747 50" Plasma High Definition television, but I just talked to a direct tv installer and he said after a few years you have to get the plasma in the tv recharged or refilled or something like that and it would cost as much as buying a new tv, is this true and is this a good tv for a price of 900 dollars? Or should I just look at lcd tvs instead?
This is a MYTH! Plasmas do not have to be recharged. Whether you should go plasma or LCD is a complicated question-see link
Sanyo is not a good TV.

We were watching football today and then all the sudden the screen went blank. The fan was running constantly with no picture and I couldn't get any tv to show anything. I called Dish and they said it was a receiver malfunction and are going to send a new one. This is only two weeks old, anyone else had any kind of problems like this?
