Can HD television sets only receive high definition signals?
IMG_3692

We are considering purchasing a new television set, and it seems that considering the size, all we are finding is HDTV. Considering the cost of the set, I was hoping to avoid additional increased charges to upgrade my cable or satellite to HD. Can a set that's designated as HD receive signals from conventional cable, satellite, or non-HD DVD players? If so, will the picture be comparable to what I am currently receiving, or worse?

The television will receive any signals from cable, satellite and non HD-DVD players. You could buy a DVD player that does upconvert the DVD to near HD quality. These players run around $70 to $100. You will need an HDMI cable to do this. If you are spending the money for the new set you might as well upgrade your cable or satellite service for HD. I find it hard to watch a program not broadcast in HD now. FYI the HD signal is much better than anything your viewing now.

How to get High Definition working with my RCA television set?
IMG_3887

Hi, I have RCA 27F530T model and it has component cable input but I can not figure out how to get High Definition Xbox 360 on it. I have all the cables plugged into the video 2 ports except for the yellow banded one. It works when the switch isnt on HD, however when I go to display settings and test out different outputs (720, 1080) it doesn't display a picture. I would really appreciate help with this one because its really confusing me.

NOT High Definition set!
Tru-Flat CRT, NTSC Tuner, 16:9 aspect ratio even with component inputs does NOT equal HiDef!

Can a High Definition DVD player still play regular DVD's on a non High Definition TV set?
IMG_3596

My DVD player broke. My television is a not a high definition set. I have to buy a new DVD player but I figured I might as well buy a High Definition DVD player and wait until my old television dies. I have my regular/old DVD's that I like to watch. Can a non HD tv and non HD DVD's still work in a High Definition DVD player?

Yes it can, you still have the RCA plugs in the back, the high def components are for example watching TV in 1080i 720p (assuming you have a cablebox) ..... and so on... also to play games and other inputs that use components
DVD players will always play DVDs even blu-ray
