My girlfriend and I are looking into getting our first high definition television. I am hoping to get around a 32" at least and am going to try to not exceed $750. Are there any certain brands that you would recommend. I'm looking into getting an LCD because I really don't like DLP and have heard some pretty negative things. Any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance.
Tough to make your budget, with a quality 32" LCD, but you can with good shopping. First, don't bother looking at the 1080p sets, as you can't realistically tell the difference from a 720p/1080i resolution, and you will save money.
The top two brands in 32", for BOTH performance AND reliability, are Panasonic Viera and Sony Bravia. A little bit less expensive, but still good quality is Toshiba Regza followed, perhaps, by Sharp Aquos and Samsung. If you can't afford one of these brands, do yourself a favor and wait while you save up so you can get quality.

I have a 55" dlp high definition tv 13 months old that has failed twice in the last month. It is a highly ranked mfg. Of course, there was only a 12 month warranty.

Failed Twice in the last month eh? Did it have the SAME PART fail or Two Different Parts like the LAMP and the BALLAST?
I've seen a FEW lamps eat the ballast, more rare than anything...BUT it does occur and causes us to come back in a week or two after the NEW lamp has been working fine.....
Do I think DLP TVs are junk? No....good design, I want one myself...but I will wait while all the NEW technology gets some years of experience to them....That's what will make them reliable...
And staying away from Chinese and Mexican crap....

I am looking for a cheaper HD-TV, but I want it to be a big screen(of course). I was thinking about a DLP tv because they seem to be nice enough and are only around 1,000 dollars for 50-60 inches. I heard that if you sit at the side of the tv you cant see the picture very well. What do you think of DLP tvs, or LCD'S?
Projectors and LCD sets have a problem with off-angle viewing, but the new LCD sets are quite good. The projectors have improved as well. DLP sets are lower in cost for large sizes, but are bigger and heavier. Personally, I prefer LCD to any projector.
I know that a elephant has a great memory, but what does that have to do with High Definition Television
I think the absurdity of the elephant is to show that anything is possible with DLP technology. Consider the whimsical music and the rays of light coming out of the box, it seems like texas instruments is trying to give their technology a magical feeling. Whether or not that works is up to you- but I can personally say that an HD DLP is a serious contender to plasma and lcd- you get a bigger set, but better color and much better value
I'm really thinking of getting a Nintendo Wii soon. I have a High definition Samsung DLP tv. Just wondering if anyone else has a Wii and uses it on a DLP projection television. Thought I heard somewhere that it won't work with projection televisions.
It will work fine
