Receiver needed for High Definition Over the air OTA broadcast?

My High Definition television did not include the ATSC tuner. It is a Toshiba 30HF83 with a DVI/HDCP input. I had purchased a Samsung SIR-T351 set top box which does recieve the High Definition stations. The problem is I need to have the antenna rotor pointed directly at each individual transmitter station. Another set just purchased which is a Toshiba 37HL67 has both the NTSC and the ATSC tuner incorporated. This set does not require the antenna pointed directly at the transmitters. All stations come in great no matter where the outdoor antenna is pointed.
Is there a better set top ATSC tuner box on the market as it appears to be a major improvement in reception? If possible I would like to have a tuner with HD recording capability. Is there such a model available ? Similar to what is done with a VCR and NTSC broadcast now. I do not want to purchase a service such as TIVO as it requires a monthly fee.

I have that receiver, it is decent. But It is only as good as the antenna that you have. I have a channel master UHF bowtie antenna with a uhf amplifier. I get reception for two distant cities at 35-55 miles each with a rotator. The antenna is on the roof. Remember that HD Tv is broadcast primarliy in UHF not VHF frequencies.

as for the recoding capability, I am looking for the same HD capability in a stand alone box. LG did make one but it is not now offered. Sony has one but it is very expensive over $1000. You can do it yourself with a pc and a hd tuner card and myth tv. I want the stand alone solution and wil wait for Panasonic or someone to do it

where am i going to direct my hdtv aerial antenna if i am in MILPITAS, CA 95035 (?)?

where am I going to direct (north, east, west or south) my aerial high definition television (hdtv) antenna if my location is in MILPITAS, CA 95035 (?)

The above link should help you with an antenna selection and with antenna alignment based on station location.

Note that 0 degrees is North and the the angle is measured in a clockwise direction. For headings that exceed 180 degrees you can subtract the heading from 360 degrees (which is also North) to measure the resulting difference in a counterclockwise direction.

Can anyone recommend an antenna that will pull in uhf television stations?

I am getting rid of my cable service and I want to put up an antenna that will bring in the local stations about 20 miles away. I have an older tv set(not high definition). Can anyone tell me where I can purchased a uhf antenna.

Get a set of rabbit ears that also has a UHF loop on it. That's all you need, and Radio Shack will have it.

What kind of HD antenna is best for me?

I currently have an Olevia LCD HDTV in my basement. It has a built in HD- Tuner but the HD channels are not getting a signal and will flash out many times. When placed upstairs, the channels work fine. I have cable that is hooked up through the coaxial port of the television. I was looking at some Indoor Amplified High-Definition Antennas that hook up through the coaxial port. My Tv only has one of these ports, so would a splitter work? I am not sure how I could get an antenna and my cable to work at the same time with only one coaxial port. Thanks in advance!

It is likely that some cable frequencies and OTA frequencies will be close enough to each other that combining the two signals will not work. The best approach is to use a coaxial switch with two inputs, so you can switch between the inputs. I don't know how well the antenna will work in the basement, if that's where you intend to put it.
Radio Shack has the switches and antennas.

Does this COMPUTER worth $1000?

Please help!
Should I buy it?!!!

This is definitely worth the $1000 with the 6GB of RAM it will be plenty fast! However you might have trouble finding applications that takes full advantage of the 64 bit OS. You could downgrade to 32 bit OS but you would lose 2GB of RAM. I think that it is well worth the money and you will be fine with the 64 bit OS.
