Receiver needed for High Definition Over the air OTA broadcast?

My High Definition television did not include the ATSC tuner. It is a Toshiba 30HF83 with a DVI/HDCP input. I had purchased a Samsung SIR-T351 set top box which does recieve the High Definition stations. The problem is I need to have the antenna rotor pointed directly at each individual transmitter station. Another set just purchased which is a Toshiba 37HL67 has both the NTSC and the ATSC tuner incorporated. This set does not require the antenna pointed directly at the transmitters. All stations come in great no matter where the outdoor antenna is pointed.
Is there a better set top ATSC tuner box on the market as it appears to be a major improvement in reception? If possible I would like to have a tuner with HD recording capability. Is there such a model available ? Similar to what is done with a VCR and NTSC broadcast now. I do not want to purchase a service such as TIVO as it requires a monthly fee.

I have that receiver, it is decent. But It is only as good as the antenna that you have. I have a channel master UHF bowtie antenna with a uhf amplifier. I get reception for two distant cities at 35-55 miles each with a rotator. The antenna is on the roof. Remember that HD Tv is broadcast primarliy in UHF not VHF frequencies.

as for the recoding capability, I am looking for the same HD capability in a stand alone box. LG did make one but it is not now offered. Sony has one but it is very expensive over $1000. You can do it yourself with a pc and a hd tuner card and myth tv. I want the stand alone solution and wil wait for Panasonic or someone to do it

How to get an HD cable box?

I have Comcast now with an Explorer 2200 (standard def) box, but I am soon buying a new HDTV. I'm looking at their site and it says "High Definition Television" is an extra $7/month.

How do I get the box? The HD receiver or whatever. I would be buying an extra cable box I'm assuming. Does the box cost more money per month too, or is it just the $7/month HD?

Sorry if variants of this question have been answered many times before; I didn't want to bug comcast by like calling them and not buying it right away

The prices depend on your market as Comcast has different pricing in different areas. You can chat with them here: http://www.comcastsupport.com/chatwithus /userchatstartcom.asp

This is definitely worth the $1000 with the 6GB of RAM it will be plenty fast! However you might have trouble finding applications that takes full advantage of the 64 bit OS. You could downgrade to 32 bit OS but you would lose 2GB of RAM. I think that it is well worth the money and you will be fine with the 64 bit OS.

Surround Sound Speakers?

I am thinking about getting surround speakers to compliment my high definition television and my xbox 360 elite

I want to spend something in the $600 range, no more than $1000
I have a Yakamishi Receiver
I have a 46'' DLP/LCD television

Get a matching infinity reference or polk set. Infinity reference have great reproduction, and you will get the best quality outside of a full blown audiophile system
