I have a ps3 and I am want to buy the HDMI cable for it to upscale dvds and for HD, but the issue with this surround sound is that it only hooks into component sound. Is there any way to resolve this issue?

I was looking for a new surround sound system for my room and I came across this Xbox Sherex surround sound system. I read a bunch of reviews and everybody is recommending it. They use it in their living room and everything. I just wanted to know if this would be a good choice for my room and for playing xbox 360 games :)

Yeah it will mostly be for gaming...My parents have a really nice set-up downstairs but that is for TV/Movies only because it's the family tv not for video games lol.
It's only 130$ brand new on ebay
$500 for speakers for a video game system is pretty steep. You're only a couple hundred (or less) off of a real system with brand name speakers. Plus, this system doesn't have HDMI ports. Just about all stereos made in the last 4 years do. They're not an absolute must, but it's always nice to have another option--especially when it's the latest option out there.

5.1 speaker system
Matrix mode
Frequency Directed Dual Driver Technology
40 Hz - 20 kHz Frequency Response
Wired control centre
I want surround speakers for my play station 3. I compared the three speakers and i found this.
G-51 and X-540 has FDD2 and Matrix Mode specially for gaming.
Z-5500 had all other things like dolby digital, prologic 2, thx certified but not the above two features. I m disappointed. I wished it also had the above two features.
One thing i liked was G-51 and x-540 had 155 watts RMS and 70 Watts RMS respectively.
But z-5500 had whooping 505 Watts RMS with 188 Watts RMS subwoofer and 65 watts RMS each satellite speaker.
I am confused because G-51 and X-540 focus on gaming considering FDD2 thing and that Matrix Mode feature. They give examples and all point and focus is on those features. Like "Now hear your enemies sneaking up behind you,............" Also it focus on 360 degrees of audio and get into the game thing.
But Z-5500 does not mention anything like 360 degrees of audio which sounds amazing.
I need your opinion and correct me if i m going wrong. I Need your help and advice on this.
Please help, thanks.
I've a friend that have the Z5500 setup for his gaming/HT system in his basement and he's pretty happy with it. About the 360 surround sound. When you play the game, the Z5500 will be able to decode the sound from appropriate direction. It's just marketing term. All the speakers systems you pick is good...But Z5500 is much more fitting to what you planning to do since it's can push more sound than the other two.

i like a speaker that has kind of a bright sound with tight bass and excellent midraange which of these two would be the best.
The KEF's are more versatile and have a more natural sounding midrange. The Klipsh definitely fit the brightness requirement however. The key is that you need to listen to both side by side, if possible, with music you are familiar with. If you are listening to mainly rock you may not be satisfied with the bass performance of either speaker. Consider getting a small sub woofer with a variable crossover. Then run speaker wires (not RCA cables) to the sub and then speaker wires to the bookshelf speakers. With this set up you should be able to get quality sound with either of the speakers you choose.
It was a pass me down and i dont really know much about speaker specs so maybe you guys can help me out.

So is this setup outdated and in dire need of replacement or have they stood up to the test of time? Thanks a lot for the info!
If you like the way it sounds - keep it. If you do not like it - get a new one.
There are always better systems out there - for more, much more, and much much more money.

Creative Inspire T6100 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System ...
If you are just trying to get a better computer speaker system go ahead with this creative set.
If you want a real home theater forget about this. The quality of the sound if far below any branded home theater. When hiring music the distortion starts very early. You don’t have to push the volume very much to saturate the speakers (the RMS of the satellites is pretty low)
For the price this is a good deal but don’t expect to get a solution to your sound problems.
