6 Speakers Stereo

I have 2 good speakers with existing stereo. I want a new Surround receiver. Will I be able to listen to CD player connected with sound going to just 2 speakers? Does pushing "stereo" button on surround receiver send sound to just front left and right?

Push the button and find out.
Otherwise I would have to say yes to all of your questions.
Even on your surround sound receiver.
If you select stereo you should only get the sound from the front 2 speakers.
There are other music modes which allow the use of all speakers in a "stereo" mode. Your manual will explain the different DSP modes on your receiver.

i have a pair of mitsubishi speakers model SS-152 that are 6 ohms that i got from my dad, but i dont have a 6 ohm stereo! does anyone know where i can find a 6 ohm stereo? does anyone have a old 6 ohm stereo that they dont use i could have?

Don't bother trying to find a Stereo Amp with an output impedance of 6 ohm. They don't make them. You can use a regular amplifier with an 8 ohm impedance output, or if it makes you nervous, you can add a 2 ohm wire-wound resistor in series with your speakers to match the amplifier load. It should work out fine for you.

I have this car stereo and i also have a 2001 toyota echo and i was wondering if anyone new if this stereo would work with all 6 speakers instead of the normal 4

Just use the correct harness for the car, and it will be fine. The original radio only has 4 channels also. The other 2 speakers share the front channels.

Stock stereo, 6-disc in dash CD player, 6 speaker system(4 6x8's leg level in front and rear doors, 2 eye level tweeters in front doors). I am no audiophile, nor a tech-spert. I think I have a blown front 6x8, and just want to replace them all, with some good thump, but can plug and play in the stock system/location. You are all the best!

yes and no.
the radio will send enough wattage for the speakers to play at moderate to low volumes but when you start to crank the volume past halfway they will sound distorted because the radios internal amp will be overworking itself trying to supply the necessary wattage, for best result you would need a amp on them
