Home Speakers Answers
So I connected my Ps3 to my pc using a hdmi - dvi cable but the problem is I can't get the sound. I used a y-cable and then connected to my computer in the back next to where the speaker goes in but then this panel popped up and I dunno what to do:

Where it says 'Select Configuration' there is three options: Open Configuration, 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers, and **IDS_CONFIG_71.
Also the question mark thing has two options: Line In and Side Speakers.
What options do I choose and how do I get it working?
Also if it's important, the 'Advanced' options are 'Allow reconfiguration Pop-Ups' and 'Enable Multi-Stream Retasking', both are checked.
hey its me, the one who you sent emails to. Its gonna be hard to find many answers from other people. If the side speakers didnt work, try the other ones then (rear speakers, centre/LFE speaker). For the 'Select Configuration' try maybe 5.1 surround sound or **IDS_CONFIG_71. If one way doesnt work, try a different way.

I have a Samsung 71 series tv that I want to get everything hooked up on. It just bothers me that I would have to change so many settings to move from watching normal tv to playing the ps3. It would be awesome if the tv would just send whatever is coming through it's speakers out via optical into the surround reciever. Does it work like that?
Does your tv have digital inputs? If so that would work. If not, you have to connect to your receiver's digital input to get dolby digital 5.1 or dts.

I have crossfire setup with two ATI Radeon HD 3870 PCIe 2.0 GDDR4 cards. Ive got a new LCD HDTV that Id like to try out as a monitor. Any suggestions on the setup as far as how to get the clearest picture?

Firstly, to get the best picture you have to use the best connection, and the best connection is through HDMI.
You need a DVI-to-HDMI cable to connect the DVI output on your Radeon HD3870 to one of your HDTV's HDMI ports. This is a digital signal and is better than any of the analog signals such as VGA, Component, S-video, or composite.
Once you got it connected, you need to make sure your computer is set to display at the HDTV's native resolution (1920x1080). Then make sure the HDTV is displaying 1920x1080 using 1:1 pixel mapping. That means overscan, image scaling and zoom must be disabled on your HDTV.
You then adjust the colors and contrast to get a nice sharp image for the text.
