Do they sound better than any other year so far? How are the mids, highs and bass response? Are they 2ohm this year?
ive heard the new ones and they sound real good, not sure about the ohms but the mids highs and bass responses all sound real good so if u plan on getting them u shouldent be dissapointed, unless ur really picky

Actually, the question was...what does it mean in reference to SPEAKERS folks! Audio compression is different and has nothing to do with the speakers. You can have a system with dynamic compression in the audio due to either an actual limiter circuit or not enough amplifier power...but you may have speakers that are not dynamically compressing (just compressed sound).
When a speaker dynamically compresses, it in essence runs out of output capability. This normally happens when a speaker reaches the limits of output and simply can't put out any more sound. It happens often with most inexpensive to medium priced speaker systems (a lot on the "satellite subwoofer systems, particularly the Bose systems). You'll usually run itto it on home theater sound tracks which tend to have a LOT of dynamic range. You will be listening to a sound track at a reference volume and a large transient peak will come along. The speaker system simply runs out of the ability to go any louder (assuming the amplifier still has the headroom and doesn't clip first). Here is an example...say you have a typical satellite/subwoofer speaker system. You are sitting 10 feet from the speakers and you are playing a movie at 90 db at your seats...which means your speakers have to put out 100 db of sound. Now, a 10 db peak comes along (big explosion in the movie...etc). Your speakers need to output 110 db...but they are only capable of 105db. There...you now have dynamic compression. You can also get dynamic compression when there are frequencies that come thru that your system can't reproduce. Take a specific example...somebody has a Bose Acoustimess system (sorry). The bass cube in that system is -3db at 43 hz. Now, you play War of the Worlds on DVD, the section where the machine comes out of the ground which has bass frequencies all the way down into the 10 hz range at high levels. Your bass cube simply cannot reproduce those frequencies with any volume or impact and they simply run out of output (which is why the Acoustimess bass module is NOT a subwoofer). That is another form of dynamic compression.

I am making reference to audio speakers for the computer. I've already down loaded the driver genius professional. the results have not been of any help. assistance with matter is greatly appreciated. thank you
Make sure your Sound Driver isn't disabled; it may have inadvertently disabled itself during shutdown:
Go to Device Manager (Start> RightClick My Computer> Properties> Hardware Tab> Device Manager) and right click on your sound driver and choose enable. If not, try updating the driver, which will effectively restore it to factory settings if there's an update available.
If you don't know the name of you Sound Driver, so to Start> Run> dxdiag. Now go to the Sound Tab and any sound hardware installed is listed.
If that still doesn't work, the driver may have been uninstalled. If so, go to your computer's manufacturer's website and go to the "Support" section. There should be a link for drivers. You will need to know your computer's model, but once you enter that it will give you an option to download any missing drivers. Just find the Sound Driver and install it.
Hope that helps =]

I'm shopping for some speakers, and after listening to my friends B&O system I've decided to go high-end.
While shopping I noticed the word 'reference' used alot, like 'reference audio', 'reference technology' etc. What does the word 'reference' mean when using it with audio speakers?
It is really just a marketing word. In the audio world there really is no such thing as a true "reference". Every professional audio engineer has their own reference and many disagree with each other.
In theory, a true reference system would have perfectly flat frequency response and a very wide dynamic range. Finding that perfect system is probably a lost cause anyway. Just get the best equipment that you can afford and don't worry about what others think about it if you are happy with it. Someone else will always have a better "reference" system than you have.
Keep in mind that the "high end" audio world is full of half truths and myths (especially concerning cables). Heaven forbid any of these self proclaimed "audiophiles" actually cracked a book on audio engineering.

Straight Cord Speaker Mic for HT1250 - The RadioReference.com Forums
I am in need of a Speaker Mic for my HT 1250/1550 with a straight cord like the Public Safety Mics but no Ant needed. I want to use my radio in a leather cross the chest rig and my coiled cord speaker mic will not reach from radio pocket to mic holder. Any ideas are appriciated. And I may still try the Public Safety Mic but not sure if the ant will get in my way on my shoulder with my airpack and other equiptment on.
