on the cross over there are two side to hook up wires and one side says woofer in tweeter in and the Other side says woofer out and tweeter out were do i hook up the power at i am only running one neg and one pos. for each set
You don't hook up the power to a passive crossover. Connect the woofer out to the woofer and tweeter out to the tweeter. Connect the wires from the stereo to both woofer and tweeter in.
An introduction to crossovers. I mention crossovers to new DJs and find out that they don#39;t know much about them. This video is basic ...
I'm looking to change the speakers in my Golf MK4 (without a Monsoon audio system), but the problem is... I'm not sure if the Golf has crossovers... and if it does, where they may be located.
I will be installing a new component audio system "Power Acoustik XP2K-60C"
Could someone enlighten me please?
No crossovers in there

i have 5 1/4" in back and 4x6 up front. the amp has a fixed 85hz hp filter. but i suspect that is still to low. the speakers are rated for 5-40 rms and 120 peak. the amp is a mtx 50x4. i am considering getting a f-mod from crutch field (fixed hi pass plug for rca) but i wanted to get opinions for a good frequency to go with.

I will have a sub that will be driven by 600 watts rms
For 50wrms x 4, 85Hz is fine. I wouldn't buy f-mods until I listnened first. If you did add f-mods, they would only do you good if you wanted the cutoff point at a higher freq.
I personally have my hpf @ 80Hz, lpf @ 80Hz as well. My door speakers (4x6's, 6 1/2's, and 6x9's) move a little for the upper-bass response and their fine. They all get about 50wrms, each.
Anyways, all speakers are different. In fact, your 4x6's would perform at 'peak' with a different cutoff point than your 5 1/4's, but that is hardly measurable.
Just see what it's like now. If your door speakers get distorted or muddy from too much bass, the f-mods are the way to go (100Hz would take care of it, if it's a prob, should be fine though).
It's up to you!
Good Luck!

I have a DJ Mixer, Equalizer, Amplifier to power 2 x 15" + 2 x 10" speakers + 1 subwoofer (for home use so it's of low end type) which I mainly use for Videoke and MP3 Playback. How will a Crossover help in that set-up?
Crossovers send certain frequency bands to different speakers. You you have a passive or active crossover. One (I can't remember which, sorry!) means it is crossed over before amplification and the other is after amplification. You could create a 4 point system where you would have 5 different frequency bands (one for each speaker) and 3 crossover points and send your lows to the woofer, low-mids to a 15, mids to a 15, mid-highs to a 10 and highs to a 10. Just be sure you check the impedance levels of all your equipment and wire correctly or you could blow your stuff or have a tiny power output. You can wire in series, which is one after another after another after another or parallel which is splitting your signal to two different places and bringing it back together again.
i have a old us acoustics crossover and i was wondering if its possible to to wire stock speakers into a crossover or do you have to have aftermarkets. the crossover only has RCA inputs and outputs
You could wire the stock speakers, or any speakers for that matter, but you have to wire them through an amplifier if the only input and outputs are RCA's. I'm sure that you could rig it up to work without an amp,but I wouldn't suggest it, as you'd probably be looking at splicing wires and making the initial signal weaker.
