There is a speaker icon on your computer that controls all the sound - well I accidentally deleted it and I'd like to figure out how to get it back.
If all else fails, go to Dell.com and look for drivers for your system and download and reinstall.
Also if your system has system restore, go to the date before you deleted it and do a restore.

My speakers are connected properly, I never had this problem before- I didn't even touch my speakers- but I did check them to make sure they ARE connected properly, but now all of the sudden at the little speaker icon I have on my screen at the bottom corner it says "No audio output device installed" ....It also has an X..... My speakers are connected... I even unpluggled them several times to see if that worked and their detected by my computer- but nothing happens. Can anyone please help me??? Thanks in advanced: Also.... I have Windows Vista if that helps...
I dont have any disk to install speaker devices because my computer is suppose to automatically detect any device installed, andddd..... I restarted my computer about 30 times already and that doesn't work...

and reinstall sound drivers

What do i do to listen to music again like i used to like a month ago. i didnt do anything except put in a disk that came with my notebook. it said it was for updating it. it did give it new features but i cant hear anything. Is there a way i can delete the program that came from the disk.
When my sound disappeared one day I restored previous settings start > all programs > accessories > system tool > system restore and it came back. Restore it to a time when you had volume.
i did not disconnect any wires, I just downloaded a Windows XP disk and now I have no sound, no audio icons,... nothing!
Did you try reinstalling your audio driver?
