Home Speakers Answers

would most car speakers work with a home audio setup? Just curious for testing purposes....?

I realize that car speakers are made for different purposes than a surround speaker for a home theater (for example), but it's safe to say I could hook up a car speaker like a 6.5" or 6x9 for testing purposes, right? Anything I should be concerned about so I dont blow the speaker?

Most home speakers are rated @ 8 ohms, to avoid damaginf the component connect both speakers in series to raise the impedance to 8 ohms.

Need help with car audio setup. Amp/ speakers/ sub/ head unit?

I recently bought a 2002 grand prix GT and it has the factory delco sysem in it right now. I want to upgrade the audio and honestly I don't know where to start. I plan on going into a local place and will have them install it for me but I don't want to go in without knowing anything and getting suckered into something I don't really need.

First of all, I'm not looking for a system that pounds so much that everyone on the block hears it.. I would like something that sounds good from in the car and maybe you can hear the bass if your on the sidewalk as I'm passing by.

I"m trying to spend the least amount possible. I'm not necessarily looking for cheap brands but maybe older model tried and true brand name stuff where possible.

Here's what I'm looking for -

1- A decent head unit/ deck that plays mp3's
2 - 6x9's in the back
3 - Speakers for the front doors but don't know what size to look for.
4. 10 or 12 inch sub
5. Amp to push system

suggestions appreciated

one thing you can do is get a 5 channel amp. most people in the store dont try to sell these because they would rather sell you two amps. a 5 channel Will push your front speakers rear speakers and a sub woofer.
this is an example one of many

i would suggest to go with brands that you know like alpine pioneer kicker and JL. most big brands are known for a reason and most big brands are CEA compliant and you want CEA compliant.

What audio setup with a 1999 chevy suburban?

I just recently finished upgrades of the exterior, and have been finally looking into upgrading my audio system. Im pretty knowledgeable about cars and whatnot, but have no experience with audio speakers, amps, decks, etc. Mainly what im looking for is some help or suggestions into what to look into. I dont want anything too too exspensive, but at the same time dont want anything cheap either, something that I will be happy with for a while.

Any suggestions, help, advice, or any personal experience or personal set-ups would be greatly appreciated.

if you want to bump good and not spend alot of money, check out Fi subwoofers.

their entry level is even much better than kicker L7's. dont ask how i know.

i currently run some of their higher end subs with some custom made options and its insane on one of my vehicles.

on the daily, i only have one 18 inch btl.

for an amplifier, i would recommend you either a Bxi Hifonics series amplifier, or a XXV Hifonics amplifer.

they are very reliable and its the best bang for the buck you could ever find. ive also seen some of the cheap branded amps get smoked quick or dont last long.

any questions, hit me up.

Car Audio Setup? Sub? Amp? Speakers?

I have been going back and forth on whether I should go for the whole car audio system and I have decided to do so. I currently have a Pioneer Premier DEH-780 head unit and am looking to buy 1 or 2 12" subwoofers and an amp to power them without exceding the $400-450 mark total. In addition I am looking to purchase speakers and a 4-channel amp to power them. Total I hope to keep the cost under $900, if possible. Can anyone help me out?

2002 Ford Mustang 3.8L base (not the mach audio setup) need to know the size of DOOR speakers?

Door speakers for a 2002 mustang are 6x8 from the factory. You can buy aftermarket 6x8's or many times a 5x7 will fit also.

  • Need help narrowing my focus - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones ...

I have been clicking around the internet for many hours and I am finding myself very lost as to what components are most relevant to me given what I already have and what I want to get. I asking for some guidance on what I should be focusing on given my specific pretext. Pointing me in the right direction and pointing out important terminology would be very helpful. 2) Also, I want to optimize my setup for to using headphones. I can plug into my receiver, but I'm not sure what is optimal. Is there much to be gained by using a separate headphone amp vs the receiver's 1/4" output. I am guessing this depends on the specs of the headphones. This is one of those contingencies that is making...
