Can someone suggest good home audio stereo speakers?

I'm in the market to get a pair of front channel speakers and as luck would have it there is a lot out there that plays music! Unfortunately, I'm trying to find the best bang for my buck.

Bose? Klipsch? Denon? Sony?

I have heard that if your center channel sucks, there is no point getting great front channels... which is fine, maybe I'll get a center while I'm at it!
I listed those companies just as examples. The consensus seems to be that I definately need to hear the speakers so that I make sure I get what I'm looking for. I was maninly hoping to get ideas of what companies always had a really solid, quality product.

I've gotten several companies to look into, and I know to definately avoid Bose.

What about SDAT, Premiere Acoustic, and BIC?

i don't honestly know how much you are looking to spend....but I can suggest the following....which is kind of an unwritten law concerning audio equipment....the company that makes CD players makes excellent CD players...the amplifier company is great at amplifiers...etc., etc., down to the speaker company makes great speakers...

Denon speakers are really based on their professional line of equipment.

If you are looking for THE MOST bang for your buck....and have space for a small-ish (meaning footprint) speaker....I would look at the following...

http://www.legacy-audio.com/classicmain. html

With the Legacy Classic...you will get a true, full-range, top to bottom reproduction of the music and movies without having to place subwoofers in the room as their frequency response is down to 28 Hz.

If you don't want to spend THAT much money...I would go with Definitive Technology speakers.

Good luck....

How do I connect stereo speakers to receiver for TV audio?

How can I connect basic stereo speakers to my receiver for TV audio? I have an older mitsubishi receiver. I have connected the speakers to the receiver and I've connected the TV to the receiver using input/output jacks using the video component jacks on the back of the receiver. I have the right component selected (Video/AUX) but I'm not getting sound from the speakers.

What could be wrong? How do I fix it?

Alright ,Tom let's get down to it. An older Mitsubishi is always a great unit. It should always work for you, so it must be a cable, or switch setting problem on the "M". OK, first the speaker setting on the "M". Which speaker terminals did you go into with your speaker wires, "A" or "B"?

Make sure the speaker terminals you went into in the back matches the speaker selection switch setting on front (A, B, Both, etc).

OK, now, your older "M" will not have "video" inputs on the back, and you don't bring audio into video inputs. (read your question again) Look at your TV. You must come out of the "Audio Out" RCA terminals of your TV, and, in an older stereo, you go into "audio in", or into "tape in" or "tape monitor input".

Then, if you go into the "tape in", or "tape monitor in" inputs from your TV, you must have the selector swich on your "M" set on "Tape", because your stereo will think your TV is a tape player.

OK, something is wrong, but it's simple. Check out what I told you, re-plug your wires/cables, and if it still doesn't work, click on my avatar, go to my profile page, email me, and we will fix it, or else something else is broken (not likely).

I'll be watching the question, it always "ticks me off" if a box of electronics tries to "kick my butt".

Holler if you need me, Magyver.

How can I get the audio from my 32in flat screen to feed through my stereo speakers?

I am able to get the audio from the direct TV box and dvd player to go through my stereo, but when I watch movies, there is a delay in sound. I think that could be fixed if I can get the sound to go directly from the TV to the stereo, but when I plug the cable into the stereo from the tv, I just don't get any audio through the stereo. Only when I plug it into the box or DVD player.

A 32inch flat screen should have an audio out, probably even a digital and an analogue audio out. You can find your audio outs in the manual and if you don't have the manual you can most probably find it online somewhere. In case your tv doesn't have an audio out (which I think is extremely unlikely) you can use the headphones output.

It's possible that you have to assign the audio out or raise the volume... Again, reading the manual will help you with that.

Low audio from stereo speakers on laptop?

Hi
I recently bought an Advent 7111 laptop and although it has stereo speakers, I have installed the drivers, they are up to date and the volume settings are all on full levels, the sound is distant and low and resembles the sound of a mobile phone loudspeaker rather than anything of a reasonable standard. External speakers do work perfectly when plugged in so I don't think anythinhg is wrong with the sound card seems but I'm sure the sound coming from the speakers should be better than this?

The speakers are pretty much useless in anything but a silent room and external speakers are just not for carrying around especially as they need another power source anyway. I'm hoping that this isn't the best that laptop speakers has to offer and a previous laptop I had had much better sound on worse speakers. I'm sure there must be an additional setting that needs fixing. Can anyone help?

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

May actually be a loose connection insdie the laptop causing it. Talk to your company's tech support. They can probably talk you through reconnecting the internal speakers or you can send it back and they can do it for you.

It certainly sounds like this may be it.

Can I switch audio output from my computer speakers to my home stereo on and off?

I recently connected my PC to my home stereo (5.1 surround sound). It is connected from a digital output on the back of my PC to a digital input on the stereo receiver via a coaxial cable. While it sounds great when playing movies/music through the surround sound, the connection has made my PC speakers obsolete, and now any sound (including windows shutdown music) is blasted through the home stereo speakers. My question is, is there a way to automatically switch between PC speakers and home stereo speakers without manually unplugging the cable every time?

Your PC audio card should have some sort of an application to control audio out. It is usually under the Start->Control panel -> Sound or it may be a separate application.
