Audiophile Speakers

They're pretty good for coming from a car company. You could get the premium 6 speaker set-up and get a custom amp/sub combo. The good thing about the audiophile system is that it places 2 free-air sub woofers in the rear deck and the amp is hidden under the trunk matting. It doesn't hinder ANY trunk room unlike a regular sub. I have a fusion with the 6 speakers and had an Audiophile equipped one as a rental. Noticeably better sound and bass form the Audiophile one.

I want to buy a Ford over the summer, one with the Audiophile 8-speaker system If the Audiophile isn't installed as an available feature with the car the day I buy it, can I ask to get it installed later at the dealership?

You would probably have to talk to the dealership about that.

I am looking too buy a used 2004-2008 F150 lariat, I am buying it through a local auction. Can anyone tell me how you know if this truck has the Audiophile sound system with subwoofer, I know the subwoofer is below the rear seats? However if the stereo says CD6/MP3 does that mean it has the upgraded Audiophile speakers.

no not always.. cd6 was a option with the audiophile being a upgrade from there.. only real way is to look for the sub under the seat

Not quite. For the 4" size in it's frequency range - yes. But not from 20-20,000 Hz +/- 3dB

For that you need a real woofer (or sub-woofer), plus some honest to goodness tweeters. The 4" could make a good midrange.

Then you need a proper cross-over system and a good amp.

Your question is a bit limiting.

You don't have to spend a lot to get good sound.
For example, the Infinity Primus 160, according to specs, would have decent all around response. But, if you buy a sub woofer, you don't need to worry about the total frequency response of the bookshelfs, particularly if they will just be used for surround sound while watching movies.

I assume you only want a pair of bookshelf speakers as your only set, so the above mentioned would fit that bill the best.

Receivers would also depend on what you want it for.

If you just want a stereo to drive a pair of bookshelf speakers for decent sound quality, check out the Onkyo TX-8222. It comes with an iPod interface, and is basically a stereo receiver.

If you want surround for a home theater, you are talking a whole different animal
