What is the best car stereo and speakers?

i just recently got a car, and i would like to replace the old crappy manufactured speakers and stereo thats in my car. I've heard pioneer is really good. What should i look for when i buy a stereo and speakers. I know i want loud and clear sound, as well as some good bass. Should i get a sub as well????

Pioneer are very good indeed. So are Kenwood.
You will have to find out what size the speakers are in your car at the moment so you know which size to look for. Then you can have a look around at some speakers and check the reviews.

You could get yourself a small sub woofer but this will be quite expensive and you'll also have to use some sound absorbing material for best sound and so you dont piss off everyone with the great big thudding of the subs.

Which car stereo speakers are best?

I am soon going to purchase some subwoofers for my suv from Best Buy. If you had a choice which would you get. Alpine R series or Infinity DVC or Rockford Fosgate DVC. Keep in mind these will be a pair of 12"s in a ported box. and all 3 are the dual voice coil style.
If I go with the Alpine R's any suggestion on an amp that they carry at best buy? I would like to spend no more than 300 on the amp

To be honest with you I would re-think about purchasing anything from Best Buy... If there is something wrong with it or you change your mind they will take it back if you pay a restocking fee. Saying that if I would suggest Crutchfield www.crutchfield.com I have used them for years and they have never let me down. I got a pair of Infinity Kappa Perfect speakers about 5 years ago and last year they blew. Crutchfield took them back and sent me better ones. I didn't even purchase any kind of warranty. Check them out online. Now as far as Subs, if you were choosing from the three on your list I would go with the RF. Personally I would go with JL W3's. I would check out Crutchfield.com and read reviews on all of their stuff and call them and talk to them. Everyone there is knowledgeable on all of their products and when you purchase from them they include everything you need to do the install and shipping is free.

Best way to wire up car stereo speakers?

I am interested in buying some new 6X9's for the back of my car and some new 6's for the doors, and maybe one sub. I don't want a big bangin system, just something with a little more power and sounds good. Any ideas on what type of amp (2 channel, 4 channel), do I need a crossover, that kinda thing. Any suggestions??

A nice way to start that's easy on the budget but allows future expansion would be this:

Purchase a 4-channel amplifier, decent door speakers, and a single 4-ohm subwoofer and box.

Wire the amplifier so that two channels are used to run the new front speakers, and the rear channels are bridged to run the subwoofer.

Leave the rear speakers stock, and leave them hooked up to the head unit's rear speaker outputs.

Almost all 4-channel amps include built-in crossovers these days, so no separate crossover network is required. Pick an amp that gives you an option of high-pass or low-pass filtering.

I know it's natural to think of new 6x9's first, but they're by far the least important component. Most of your sound field will be created by the front speakers, whatever you do. The function of the rear speakers is to provide a "fill" effect (which stock speakers can do as well as after-market) and to provide bass (which will now be done by the subwoofer). In other words, you won't get much return on your investment if you replace them, and the money saved can be applied to better front speakers.

I found the best thing since sliced bread...http://www.crutchfield.com/S-9oDEWuNVIo6 /cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=142FMMOD01

It's not wireless so there's no interference. Not to be confused with an FM transmitter. Basically it adds an AUX input to ANY radio. No searching for a clean channel.

It feeds your audio signal from a headphone jack ( or RCA cables) by FM modulation, directly into the antenna input on your radio bypassing the antenna when on, allowing the radio to work as normal when off. It comes with an On/Off switch.

This is the answer. Totally versatile.

  • Buy Cheap Home Speakers

  • YOUR CAR STEREO AMPLIFIER JUST BLEW YOUR SPEAKERS!

Your brand new speakers are blown.  What went wrong?  Most likely the RMS power(power output of your amplifier) is the culprit – probably too high.  This is tricky, since if the RMS is too low your speakers won’t be powered sufficiently. When that happens you tend to turn the volume up, causing the amp, eventually, to distort.  This is also known as clipping.  This, also, can lead to the destruction of the speakers. When you set out to buy your car stereo amplifier , you must match its power to your car stereo speakers.  Otherwise, the speakers may be damaged or blown with the higher power, or you won’t be getting the most out of your system with the lower power.
