I mean will it plug into a wall with a power cord?
I already have the RCA cables.

As this unit is meant for audio use in a car it would require quite a substantial 12 - 14 volt power supply to run. It would not plug directly into the mains. You would be better off buying a standard HI-FI amplifier that runs from the mains.

I play folk music live (i.e. no big bass sound). I hate lugging my big speaker cabinets around. I was considering using home theater speakers instead, something like the bose 301s.

Can anyone shed some light on whether this would be a good idea or not? My amplifier puts out only 200 watts.

Jack - I would not recommend it but you could try it. You will need to be careful because your PA amp can blow your nice Bose speakers pretty easily. PA speakers are made to put up with abuse - home speakers are not made for that.

A good option would be to get some smaller, lighter PA speakers. They make some great, small PA speakers these days:

Of course you need loudspeakers. How else will anyone hear the music?

I am thinking of replacing my rear speakers, door speakers, dash speakers in my Honda Civic to improve the sound quality of my stereo. I'd also like to get a new in dash CD/radio because the factory installed model doesn't play CD's anymore. What can I expect to pay? Any advantage to using a large Best Buy over a local small town stereo shop?

If you pay decent money and research your products first you will definitely see an improvement in sound quality. Just don't be cheap because you may be stepping down unintentionally. You can go local or big box stores, i find that local shops are more knowledgeable about the products they sell.

No not really. High quality RCA cables is what makes the difference. Be sure to run the RCAs down the opposite side as the power wire. It cuts down on noise also.
