I lost computer speaker sound.Connections are good. It happened around the same day I took up a window offering to upgrade quicktime, so I did and now nothing from my speakers.any similar experience by anyone else?
First make sure your speakers are plugged in and have power to them. Yeah yeah I know but do it anyway. Next check your device manager on your system to make sure that Quick-time did not change your sound card driver.
Right Click MyComputer go to manage then to the Device Manager. Check your sound and game controller there.
If that is good you should have some sound card utility that is installed on your computer make sure that it is set to your sound card as the preferred device.
If that fails then check to make sure your speakers did not go south and will not be coming back from the vacation they decided to go on.
(Plug in a different set into your sound card if you have a set of ear buds you can plug them in directly to the sound card)
If you do not have sound then as a last resort use system restore.
Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools then to System Restore. Try to pick a day that was before you lost sound.
OH and above all else turn the knob up just in case someone turned down the volume (turning the volume all the way up you should hear a hissing sound if they are working) OH and if you have a nice speaker setup sometimes they need to be reset unplug the woofer for 30 seconds.
I think I have covered all of the issues that may happen to speakers heres hoping your tunes come back in the next fifteen minutes

Im confused. I want to get a 42inch hdtv with 3 hdmi connections. I want to get a surround sound setup as well.

computer to tv to surround sound speakers. The goal is to play HD movies on my computer.
You could always hook your pc up with a standard vga cable, and then plug your surround sound into your computer when you need to use the speakers with it. Just get a cable like this one to connect the surround sound to your pc:

I just bought a surround sound speaker system from someone for my computer. When I turn it on it makes a horrible humming and static noise through all of the speakers even though the speakers themselves are turned all the way down as is the sub. Is it just irreparably broken? Is it a fuse problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would hate to have to throw it away right after getting it.
Do you have the wires connected correctly? Sounds like you have it hooked to an input rather than an output.

recently, whenever i turn on my computer speakers..everything i hear, whether it be music or just any sound, sounds.. slowed down, frequency wise...i just noticed it today. i dunno if this has anything to do with it but.. i downloaded iTunes and ObjectDock today. please help!
You are probably having problems with your speed because you are overloading the computers free memory space. Turn off anything not being used.Music and video use up a lot of your RAM.Text downloads fast.
A possible solution is to get some more memory added to your computer. It helps to have a fast broadband connection too.
i have very expensive speakers on my computer, 5 speakers and a woofer, im wondering if there is something i can download to make them have more bass? I listen to my music through itunes, if that matters
Itunes has a graphic equalizer that you can use to tailor the sound. Go to view->show equalizer and boost the control sliders on the left side.

I've started using headphones (with a microphone) again, but when I plug them in, I hear nothing. More worrying is that, when plugging my speakers back in (I put the headphones and the speakers into the same jack), I still get no sound. I have to restart my computer to get sound again, and it only works if I haven't plugged in the headphones.
