Computer Stereo Speakers

I just bought two decent stereo speakers and hooked them up to my computer. It sounds great, but i want more sound so im wondering if i could hook up my computer speakers to my new ones. The computer speakers are normal speakers and have just the one cord to plug into the computer, where as the new speakers have the same cord except to plug them into the speaker it uses a red and white plug in thingers. There are 2 slots each of these red and white inputs, so im thinking it has something to do with that. Any help? This question probably sounds really confusing, but any ideas would be appreciated.

yea use something called a duel port, or headphone splitter, what they do is instead of there being 1 port 4 ur headphones, u then plug the duel port in and there is now 2, so plug in both speakers and have some fun loud music.
Note: If 1 of the ports on the duel port, then you will only get sound out of 1 side of the speakers, so have both speakers plugged in at the same time. But if u want only one set then get rid of the duel port altogether, because as i said, you will get sound out of only 1 side of the speakers.

Just as the title says. If I plug in computer speakers and my normal stereo speakers up to my stereo set, is there anyway I can get sound to come out of both of them?

no, thats not how the computer is set up, you have to select one or the other, which can be done through the speaker icon in the system tray, altough you can get a splitter and go through it like that, but youll only get mono through each

I have a great pair of Bose stereo bookshelf speakers that I am not using right now, and I need better computer speakers. Any idea on how to use the Bose speakers on my computer?
I can't do that, the only connection on the Bose speakers is "speaker wire", and I can't plug that right into my computer.

If you mean the red and black wires.. then you cannot do it.

There is no simple adaptor.

And such speakers require some power, more than can be easily supplied by the audio out jack, which is suitable for earphones and small speakers only (very low volume). Or speakers with their own power source (which your Bose speakers are not).

I remember that creative used to sell a amplifier that plugged into the PC and you could connect Bose speakers to that. But it has probably gone out of style as high quality PC speakers have gotten really cheap.

I am wanting to play music through my stereo speakers from my computer. The back of my stereo has the red and white plug-ins. I went to Radio Shack and the guy said something about a laptop not being amplified. I just want to know if it is possible to still receive good quality if I were to buy the cords or would it be a waste of time. Is it possible at all or should I just buy better computer speakers.

It depends on whether your stereo has an amplifier already...(unless its just a tuner it should) Does it have the ability to change modes such as CD, tape, Phono, Aux?

If there is just get an adapter that goes from a mini plug (laptop headphones jack) to the red and white (left and right channel) plugs....make sure you plug it into the "input" on your stereo and most likely change the setting to Aux. You will have to adjust the sound on the stereo and laptop to make it sound good but it should work just fine.

My computer speakers are already attached on the side of the computer and I dont think it sounds loud enough and I seen people connect their stereo speakers to the computer so I would like to try it.
if you guys can please tell me the names of the cables it would really help.thanxs.

Basically Bob B's answer, except that the tutorial he links to says connect to the AUX OUT connectors on the stereo. DO NOT DO THAT! It would be equivalent to two people talking and neither one listening. You must use an INPUT on the stereo. If it has one labelled "PHONO" "PHONOGRAPH" or something else relating to a vynl record player, do not use that pair of connectors either. The amplitude those ports expect is much different from what your computer produces. Any of the others that you're not using should be okay though. If you don't have an audio cassette tape player, I would recommend you use that pair of connectors.

Also, before starting, set the computer's volume to zero, then set the stereo to an average volume. Turn it and the computer off to be safe, then make the connections turn the computer on, then the stereo so you don't damage the stereo, then start something playing on the computer. Gradually increase the computer's volume until the sound matches about what the radio and other devices sound like at the volume you've set the stereo to. Try to avoid using the computer to adjust the volume afterward so you don't get a big surprise when you switch from a quiet source to a loud one. If you have multiple inputs that you want to hear simultaneously, you'll need a "Y" adapter for them so you can connect them to one pair of ports on the stereo. Just go into Radio Shack and ask them for RCA/audio Y adapters. They should know what you are talking about.
