Lets say its a 2.1 speaker set that has its own power source that is used for computers.
and if it does use up energy, how much when the speakers are "idle"?
Typically, by themselves, speakers do not use any energy when "inactive", or not playing music or sound.
But, in the case of a computer speaker "system" that has built-in amplifiers and power source, it is the "amplifiers" and power supply that are using the power, even when no sound is playing. How much power really depends on the system. But, probably not very much power when idle. Probably anywhere from a few tenths of a watt to a few watts - just depends on the specific system.

Does that apply to other electronic devices?
P.S: The speakers are self-powered(5.1 system)
speakers do not usually consume any energy (unless they are self powered) but the amplifier that is driving them uses more electricity the higher the volume.
In short, yes.

Don't worry
Task manager shows you both of mem usage & cpu usage at any time.and which program is using?
do computer speakers use a lot of power when no sound or music is on? As in the speaker power light is on but I am not playing music or anything?
Should i turn off the speakers to save a lot of electricity?
I have logitech 2 small speakers and an 8" sub
You would save a small amount of electricity by turning it off, but not enough that you would notice on the electric bill.
The big items for home electricity consumption are those things with motors: A/C, furnace, refrigerator, washer, dryer, fans.
Computers, stereo, lights, TV don't draw enough to matter much. Unless maybe you've got a ginormous plasma screen that you watch 24/7.

Best Home Theater System: Energy RC-Micro 5.1 Surround Speaker ...
Although these speakers can belt out over 100 watts per channel without a problem, I wouldn't recommend these speakers for the person who wants to listen to their music at deafening levels. The bass can deliver but the unique qualities of the surround speakers are somewhat lost at maximum power . . . or my ears can't adequately process all of the noise.
