Speaker Scam, How to Report It?

My father is a truck driver who stopped at a truck stop in Fairmont Indiana off interstate 80 and stupidly give some guys 400 dollars for some crappy speakers called Epic Digital sound 5.1. I looked them up online and it said that this was called the Speaker Scam. I don't know what to do if I can even do anything. I know theres a chance I can't get his money back, but is there any place I can report them to? Im not sure if the police would even care. Any help is welcomed, thanks.
I guess you are right, I think im just mad someone could even do this. He already brought them so I guess he has no choice but to use them. Thanks.

its not a scam
he paid for them , they delivered no offense

him paying too much isn't a scam

the speakers are not as bad as the internet says
use them

What kind of amp / speakers should I get for my car?

Hi,

I just bought a new car and want to put a sound system in it. I currently own an Alpine SBS-104BP 10" sub (200 rms; 400 peak; 4 ohms). I want to get a set of speakers and amp that will work with the sub. Currently, I have a Pioneer 160-watt (max) system connected to (I believe) 4 mid-range speakers and 2 tweeters (Scion xB 2009).

Here are the questions I have:

Does every amplifier channel the sound to the appropriate drivers? I would assume that it sends the low frequencies to the sub, mid-range to the speakers, high-frequencies to the tweeters.

What would be a good amplifier to get, in terms of specs and brands?

Will my current stereo be able to utilize my sub to the fullest extent? Should I be looking to upgrade the current speakers / stereo?

Thanks!

Epic

im having trouble with what your asking
if you get a 5 channel amp, your answer is yes for the splitting frequencies, but it requires a one time user input to figure out what sounds good

what you need:
you have a head unit, fine
front (component, tweeter on dash, woofer in door) and rear speakers (full range woofers/speakers) (match RMS values)
next match an amp to the outputs, the front will be closer to 2-3 ohms, and the rear will prolly be 4 ohms, so find an amp that will give you the output your looking for

no the amp for the speakers is a 4 channel, and the sub is a mono... BUTTTTT they make 5 channel amps, (2 for front, 2 for rear, 1 for sub!!!)

i would suggest talking to someone who installs stuff before purchasing, scions are KNOWN to be a pain in the butt!!!

External speakers and my iMac?

I have the new iMac, intel processor, aluminum and glass body, etc. After we get our basement remodeled (turning it into a living space, office and my bedroom) I'm going to invest in a nice speaker system for my room. Something that will envelope my room in pure epic metalness XD. Anyway, how will I go about connecting speakers to my iMac? It has very simple slots on the back but it still confuses me since I'm used to the PC layout of things. The speakers will most likely be logitech (top rated on newegg by over a thousand people) and will probably include 4 satellite speakers and a subwoofer. So how do I connect these things to my iMac?

Also what does a subwoofer really do for the sound? Extra rich bass? Where would be the best place to put the subwoofer?

How does this sound system look? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as px?Item=N82E16836121120

500 watts on the sound system? Don't most home computers (like my iMac) have only 300-400 watt power supplies? The speakers must use an external power source?
Em', I love squirrels I think it is. Macs are built way better than Vista machines (XP is great but getting outdated) and the OS is a lot more stable than Vista. Let me tell you why.

I bought a $1500 vista computer at my local bestbuy. 9800gt, sound card, Quad core cpu, and even 6GB of RAM! At first it was quite fast, the layout of Vista was okay, I could live with it. Then I started trying games. I got an error trying to run COD4, the Medieval Total War 2 got BSoD, then halflife 2 would freeze for 5 mins then BSoD. I'm searchin the web about the problem, BSoD. I was fed up. I didn't care if it could be fixed, if vista has problems like this, I don't want to do my work on it, it just isn't stable enough.

So I returned for a full refund, when the Mac store right next to best buy, and picked up my new iMac. It is awsome. And as far as gaming goes, I'm waiting for Spore, which will be able to run on native mac, and the mac version of COD4.

I'll just wait for windows 7, I guess. ^_^

You should be able to connect it to the headphone port on the back of the computer, though you may just want to get a 2 speaker system

That speaker system actually has 5 satellite speakers and a sub (the thing on top of the sub is a center speaker)

Being that I have a similar speaker set, I know that you need a surround sound card in order to get all 5 speakers to work, there should be an "external source/MP3 player" connector on it that should work on the Mac, but keep in mind you will only get sound comming out of the left and right front speakers, the left and right rear and center speakers will not get a signal and therefore not make sound, I don't think the surround sound card will work on the Mac though (the surround card requires a PCI slot and compatible software), look for a USB surround sound card that is compatible with those speakers if you can, otherwise, you may be better off with a 2 speaker system of similar quality

English speakers, could you check this short translation? It’s really urgent, please?

Hi friends! I’m from Spain.
I wrote a response to my British friends.
As you know, the automatic translators are useful but never as good as the advice of a native speaker. I respect your language enough that maybe you could copy and paste this message and help me correct my grammar and style mistakes. Please make it sound more grammatical and fluent.
Thank you.

"I’d decided to resist the anxieties that were devoured me like birds of prey and have a picnic on Vimeo until the aperture video came. My dog ate his frisbee and everything that was in the basket and I fell in a creek while I was trying to pick up a stupid remote control boat.

Despite these misadventures, what I was expecting has finally emerged. However, an untimely thunderstorm forced me to pack up my camp. Translated into less metaphorical English, it means that I had to shut down the modem and discard it the next day. Therefore, I’ve finally seen the video today on board my new NETGEAR RangeMax WPN824 (which seems to fly like a Kazaa) and, as usual, I’d like to announce my verdict.

I've promised Tom that I’ll be more moderate in my compliments. This means nothing but having to repress my irrepressible desire to write with excitement that "Breaking News" was a happy epic, a twinkling extract of the most stark and beautifully absurd humour,
and that it made me laugh with ‘expectorant violence’,
and that the performances were more than realistic and spontaneous,
and that it’s always a delight to hear you talk with such an impeccable phonetics,
et cetera.

So I just want to write about five little things that I've enjoyed, in no particular order:

1) The spontaneity achieved in the first scene, which was superbly acted, and the fact that your heads were cut off. 2) The realism achieved for the recreation of the news show (art, music, logo, video effects, and two incredible reporters). 3) The scandalous weatherman scenes. What humiliating exposure! [Strident laugh]. 4) The fact that the main reporter had a black tie instead of a colour one, which is not a coincidence (my theory of opposites never seems to fail). 5) The main journalist's sarcastic smile when he turns his head to look at his opponent.

What a video!

I'd like to finish with a quote from one of the greatest military commanders and one of my favourite idols, the French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte: “Great battles are won with artillery”. I like his style. :)"

Very good English! :D I am truly impressed. Your vocabulary might even be better than mine. ;) Aside from that, you only had a few grammatical errors that I could spot. Mostly concerning tense. But, I would say you're pretty up to snuff. A couple of questions: 1) What is an "aperture video"? Aperture, in my experience, means a small opening light travels through. Like in a camera. But perhaps it's a brand name I am unaware of. And, 2) You said, "Despite these misadventures, what I was expecting had finally emerged." Do you mean the video arrived? If that is the case, you should say, "Despite these misadventures, what I had been expecting had finally arrived." Either way, very good for your (second?) language. Makes me feel terrible about my Spanish. XD

I've Been Scammed!! Please Help?!?!?

Long story short. I bought some speakers from a guy who said he had extra from a job he just did and he had to get rid of them before he met up with his boss. Epic Sound is the name on them. I payed $340 for them he said they were worth over $3,000 and he showed me a catalog that they were in. I opened the box and the Speakers are shitty as hell and they don't even work. Is there anything i can do to get my money back or anything? I got the license plate number from the van.

The problem is - there is no crime except that tax's were not paid.

You bought speakers. They came in a pretty box with a pretty catalog. (There is probably even a website with fake reviews.) They just happen to be crappy.

There is no store to go back to, there is no 'return policy', you were not ripped off because you got 'speakers'. Chances are the speakers DO work but you have connected them badly.

The van - is probably a rental, fake name, paid cash.

  • Venus Zine: Mono bring epic drama to New York on a rainy Monday

Japanese powerhouse Mono played New York City’s Bowery Ballroom on the second leg of the tour that followed their 2009 release, Hymn to the Immortal Wind (Temporary Residence Limited) — although this time without Jeff Milarsky’s 23-piece orchestra backing them up. Raining on a Monday and right after Yom Kippur, Mono still packed the house — and with an eye-catching copper-toned gong suspended center stage to boot.

The lights went down as openers Maserati filtered on stage. Drummer Jerry Fuchs’ powerful and skilled drumming was fun to watch, but the show fell flat. The 45-minute set of wordless, deconstructed classic rock sounded like diluted and over-extended rips of Eminence Front and Teenage Wasteland formatted for Muzak. After, the compositions of Arvo Pärt came on the speakers as the audience waited for the Tokyo power quartet to take their places.
