Home Speakers?

hello,
i'm thinking of buying the JBL CS6100BG speakers.
Does anyone know if they're any good?
I'm looking not to spend more than $400.00
Also any suggestions on a $300.00 reciever?

This would be a 5.1 home system.

thank you....

Whats up.
Receivers check out Pioneer, Onkyo, and Yamaha. Speakers are a different story. Your speakers will sound different with each receiver. Find a place that will let you bring back the speakers if you dont like them. A good HT shop will let you do this. Now is a good time to check you local HT shops for deals. Should be good sales. Listen to all speakers in your price range. This is important so that you are satisfied when you make your choice. Good luck.

Can I make my own home speakers with car speakers?

I just pulled two nice 5-1/4" car speakers out of an old luxury Buick. They have red and black wires running out of them. Is it possible to build a box and use these as home speakers? How would it be done?

of course... just hook them into any receiver and there ya go. I pulled my 2 tens from under my seat in my truck and installed them under my couch :)

Can I play a Marshall 4ohm guitar amp over my 8ohm home speakers?

Without damaging the amp or the speakers, I want to play my Marshall 4ohm guitar amp with my 8ohm speakers to my home stereo. I know the speakers can handle the power as far as wattage goes, however I'm not sure how the mixing and matching of different ohms works and I don't want to fry/blow anything. Can I do it? Thanks in advance!

The incident of overpowering amps is not here. The
source of power is the initial monitor issue. To use a
pre-amp, private generator or battery line source could
mix ohms because that is the description of output watt
command. You do not intend to master the signal. To use
a mixer board or a p.a. monitor board would be for live play.
To play in a light venue you do not even enter the realm of
exploding your lines, which are the first thing to go. The
wiring is new, the power is steady, the output is clear and
to keep those in that ratio you need play within household
watt command levels, say under 20 decibels. 20 decibels
of house watts is equal to turning up the radio full blast.
You most likely will be right there if you keep the sound clean.

What should i look for when buying new home speakers?

I want to buy new speakers for my home, but I am not sure what to look for. I like my music to have a serious bassline that will rattle my house, but without losing the quality of the music! Think sound systems for events, but on a smaller scale. I like clear highs and deep lows. All for a reasonable price mind you. Is it all about how high the RMS is... or is there more to think about?... Also what would you recommend? Thanks.

here are a few things to consider when buying home speakers:
1) determine how much $ you are willing to spend.
2) how much space you have
3) audition the speakers in the price range you can afford, bring the type of music you like listening too and have the shop play it.
4) what sounds best to you is what I recommend.

How do you hook up home speakers to a car?

I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand-Prix and i came up with the crazy idea to take my home speakers from my bookshelf system and put them into the trunk of my car becasue the 6x9 speakers in the the back, well one of them doesnt work at all...and then the other one is blown...somebody told me that i need an amp but i think it would work without it...the car stereo is all stock...and i have absolutely no clue on how to do this...someone please help!!!!!!!!! oh ya one more thing before i forget---> the speakers are 100 watts for both boxes...

Well, you just hook the positives and negatives up, like you would a regular speaker.

The only thing you really need to worry about is the impedance of the speakers you want to put in.
Take out both old ones and measure the resistance (with a digital multimeter, DMM) of the old one (the one that still works, the one that's blown won't read anything).
You're doing this to make sure the reading from the new ones isn't lower than the old ones. If they're not, you're good to go!

Good Luck!
