PROBABLY NOT A SUBWOOFER, IF IT IS IT IS MOST LIKELY A 8 IN, STOCK STEREOS DONT COME WITH ANYTHING SPECIAL AND DONT PRODUCE TOO MUCH BASS SO I DONT THINK IT WOULD BE ANYTHING BIGGER THAN THAT. IF YOU ARE UNSURE, PULL THE SPEAKER OUT.
I'd prefer a 3 or 5 disc cd changer.
Any help would be cool. 10pts Best Answer.
I'm a little confused--are you asking about a amplifier/ receiver or a CD player? If receiver, I use a Onkyo 674 to drive my four JBL in-wall speakers and it sounds awesome.

I have a 1995 mustang with premium sound and want to know if a JBL stereo that puts out 50x4 will run through my factory amp and speakers. Will this hurt the amp?
If you want to keep your factory amp in the system, your best option is to use an adapter interface like this one: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piehrcf ord.html
This will help match the output of the new head unit to the ideal input level at the factory amp.
If it's just a 4-speaker premium system, then there's really no advantage to keeping the stock amp, and it's very easy to bypass it. If it's a Mach system (can't remember if that option was available on the 95 Mustang) then it makes sense to keep the stock amp in the system, unless you replace the speakers.

this car stereo place is pushing a 100 watt 4 channel amp and 4 6.5" speakers ---all JBL--on me cause he says all the Alpine gear he normally has is all gone. 600 installed he wants.
600 to install or 600 for the speakers and the install. sounds a bit high to me for components. your car might not have 6 and a halfs in the front and back. like the front might be 5 1/2 and the back is usually 6 1/2.
to answer your question though yes, alpine is more quality than jbl.
the guy is correct, its too expensive. how much is he charging you for the amp, speakers and install. an install like that, not doing a head unit, not doing subwoofers isnt going to be more than $100-200 labor. Anyone who charges more than that is not being competitive.
I drive an 04 toyota solara. my brother was shocked when he saw i had a jbl stereo system and told me that it was a really good system. ive never heard of it before...
is it good?
I agree with the other answer. JBL used to be VERY well known for all their audio. My father has some JBL home stereo speakers (from the 70's I think) and they still play better than the new home stereo system he bought. He actually went back to the JBL speakers and sold the new ones. The still use JBL for big concerts that you see in stadiums or big stages--there's a very good chance they're using JBL.
After hearing those speakers I put a complete JBL system in my car; JBL mid speakers, JBL 10" sub, 2 x JBL amps. I have never been happier. I think JBL is one of the best brands you can buy, but you'll probably pay a little more to get it.
To attest to the quality and performance--My friend has 2 12" Kickers, and my 1 10" JBL sub plays way louder and sounds a ton better. They are super accurate and sound phenominal; great bass reproduction with extremely little distortion. Another great thing about JBL is that they always underrate their products. My Sub is rated for 1600 watts max, but I've had a 2000 watt amp on it at full power and it didn't blow. Also, the newer JBL amp I have is rated for something like 800 watts max, but in reality it's certified to about 920. This is something you won't find with most other manufacturers. Even "good" brands such as Alpine might rate an amp for 1000 watts max but in reality it only has 850 watts or so. Before I had a JBL woofer I had a 12" Alpine Type R which was something like 1200 watts max I think. My 800 watt JBL amp blew that woofer in about 4 months...
I will only ever buy JBL products again.

Well I just got done having everything installed & I am very happy with the results. If you live in the DC area and need a very good installer (who will travel to you), contact Jermaine@ 571.220.5003. I had to give him a plug because he took his time, made sure to check with me about every step and of course he didn't damage a single thing in the car. I will try to break this down as easy as possible. All four door speakers (the 6x9's in the front and the 6.3's in the rear) were replaced with the Polk speakers. This was to try to obtain slightly better sound as the stock speakers are just utter crap. As you can see in the pics, the two front tweeters were installed in the A-pillar and...
