Jl Audio Component Speakers

here is what i want to do and i am wondering if it is worth it or not...?

should i take out the stock speakers (6 total, 4 regular 6x8's and 2 tweeters) and replace them with jl audio 6x8 components?

should i get 2 jl audio w0 10" subs or should i just get one jl audio w3 instead? also, what size amp would be required to run each of these different set ups?

the car comes with a 6 disk in-dash cd changer....if i would make the component speaker and sub upgrades would it be necessary to upgrade to a head unit or a double din type set up to run the whole thing?

also, i mostly listen to rock music and sometimes rap, are there specific brands that sound better for rock music?

any and all help will be greatly appreciated...thanks ahead of time!!
the stock speakers are not the bose ones either unfortunately...

If your looking for much better sound then yes get them. They will greatly improve your stereo.

If at all possible I would get 2 of the w3's. they would blow your mind. otherwise just the one would be better than 2 w0's.

for an amp to power it I would get this to stay with JL Audio:

If thats to expensive because I know they can be you can find something with similar power ratings for much less.

For listening to mostly rock I would get a sealed box.

which one is better
for my BMW Z3

i dont know if you can really go wrong either way. i think me personally would probably go with JL speakers, Eclipse amps, and either a JL 12W6, or Eclipse Titanium. if you want more SQ, then go with the w6. more spl, go with the Titanium.

Since you ask so many questions about this - I think it is better you don't get any of these things and stick with the factory installed equipment in your car! :p

On some songs (dance tracks) my left front tweeter pops, did hear that from the mid/bass unit.

Can anyone tell me what is the reason?

Either you are giving the tweeters too much power, or the HPF in the crossover is not set high enough to block the lower frequencies that make the tweeter pop. I wouldn't expect that from JL, you may want to see about getting that tweeter replaced. Once it starts popping, it only gets worse.

I want a really good set of 61/2" component speakers for my truck. I've seen most of the usual brands like Alpine, Pioneer, JL Audio, Infinity, Polk, etc. I was just wondering if anybody knows a good brand that may not be so familiar but has awesome sound quality and a reputation to back it. I don't mind paying a few hundred bucks as long as they are worth it.

If you don't mind blowing a hole in your wallet, look at stuff from Morel loudspeakers or from Focal. These are really high end brands that make awesome car audio products as well. Another good set of 6 1/2 " separates would be the the PRO60 from Boston Acoustics. I've never had a problem with this brand. But as I always say, a great speaker or speaker brand won't do squat if your install sucks. So the best thing to do would be to find a high end installer who really knows what he's doing so that you don't end up with a high cost system that sounds bad. I hope I was of help....
