Kef Surround Sound Speakers

I have ordered the surround sound speakers and i am now looking for a nice amp to go with them. I am limited to what i can get as i live on an island. I have been looking at the Marantz SR 4001 and SR5001 does anyone have this set up?

Great choice on the speakers!. I also own KEF Speakers and i am a big fan. Well anyways i find Onkyo receivers to sound good with KEF speakers. but either or the Marantz will do also.
If you wan't to spend a little more you can buy A Cambridge audio reciever that will blow away Denon and Onkyo's recievers.

AV Receiver:
Panasonic SAXR55 (£250) or SAXR70 (£330)or
Yamaha RXV359 (£200) or RXV659 (£300)
Speakers:
KEF KHT 1005 (£250)
So that will be between £450 and £580. Trouble is I'm stretching my £550 budget and I fear I may need a fair chunk of change for connecting cables...
My existing VCR; digibox and TV all have only Scart connections, but my DVD has a raft of connectors: optical; s-video; composite video & audio(L&R).
So - how can you help?
The KEFs - reasonable? value for money? (It's for my loumge, not an aircraft hangar. And for me, not the rest of the street.)
Panasonic/Yamaha: how do they rate for build quality & reliability? On paper, any of the units will do - should I roll a die? (Roll 1 or 6 the money goes toward the new kitchen - so I'd rather avoid that!)

I wouldn't bother with a Pansonic receiver unless it is one of the new digital ones.

Otherwise, for your money. Yamaha or Onkyo are great for the money in entry level.
