Im having a party and I can't have a DJ, so I thought I could somehow connect my laptop to speakers so I can use my itunes library? I really need help and Im sure there must be a way to do it.
there should be a cord that came with the speakers, find it. then plug it in to the headphone jack in your computer.
pc to stereo
I have a HP Pavilion laptop. I'm having a party at my house and would like to play the music off my iTunes in my laptop, but the speakers are not loud enough, so I want to connect stereo system speakers, is it possible? I don't have them yet, but wanting to buy them, any suggestions on which speaker outlets would work, etc.
This is an easy one but you will need more than just speakers. You will need a stereo or reciever as you will need something capable of powering the speakers. Or, you could purchase powered speakers such as computer speakers but I can almost promise that it won't be loud enough for a party. If you have a stereo already you can simply look for an "in" or "input" on the back. Ideally, this would be a red and a white set of "RCA" connectors. You would get an RCA to stereo mini Y adapter that will allow you to connect the stereo to the laptops speaker jack. This works great. I have my computer connected to a ridiculous home theater system and can do the same with my laptop.
Connect your DVD, CD, Mini Disc, or Game Console System for clear, full and rich detailed sound
Optical cables transfer the signal using light, thus completely eliminating any chance for RFI, EMI or ground loop interference
Toslink Digital Audio Cable provides you the cleanest possible signal, even at extreme volume levels
The stylish PVC HEAVY 5.0mm JACKET helps prevent cable damage and adds flexibility and durability for years of listening pleasure
GOLD-PLATED FERRULE prevents corrosion and provides for maximum protection of the fiber tip
I've got an iBook G4 and would like to start a bit of music production on it... My problem doesn't lie in software but my real problem is using the small speakers on the laptop. I was wondering is there any sort of lead that can connect the laptop with my stereo speakers so I can hear the sound from there?
I looked on my speakers to see the Headphone jack since I have the 3.5mm cables you all speak of... but there is no jack on either speakers... BUT there are 2 red and white sockets (for left and right speakers) on the main bit of the stereo. Is there a cable that connects that to the laptop?
If your stereo has a line input you can get a lead to go from the head phone socket on your pc to the input of the stereo.

I have a semi old (90's) stereo and I would like to hook it up to my (at the moment broken laptop). Can I just take a double sided green audio cable and hook it up to the stereo's headphones port (sound out) to my laptops headset port (sound in) and use the stereo speakers?
You can do it if your audio out port isn't broken. That's the headphone jack.
I wanted to find a cable that will enable me to play music from my laptop and through my normal stereo speakers, is that possible if so what type of cable would i need to wire it up??
Coincidentally I was just trying to do the same thing. I used one of those cables that either came with my laptop or camera - I am told it is a video/audio cable or something or other. Has red and/or yellow plugs. The big ones fit in to the aux sockets at the back of your stereo and the headphone plug fits into your computer headphone socket. Check you dont already have the cable before going and buying one.
