What do I need to be able to play music from my computer on 4 large stereo speakers?

I want to be able to play music on my stereo speakers that I have outside (wired or wireless is fine) but they are big stereo speakers and I don't know how I would connect them or if the computer has enough power to sound decent on them. Help?

If you pull too much power through your sound card to your speakers, you risk burning out the circuitry in the card. Also if you cannot drive the speakers, you risk hurting them too. It is best to use your computer as a music server to a receiver that powers the speakers. The receiver usually has enough power through it's internal amp to power the speakers. You could also push an amp with your computer, but you'd get deeper sound through a receiver IMO.

Route the audio from your sound card into your aux in connection on your receiver.

Have fun with it.

How to play vinyl records without a stereo reciever or large speakers?

I live in a dorm room and don't have the space for a full stereo set. However I do have a nice Harmon Kardon 2.1 speaker set that I plug my laptop in to that uses 1/8" jack. I don't need to take stuff off of my LP's to computer, I just want to listen to it for the most part. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry that nobody actually answered your question.

First, you will need to find a record player. Record players do NOT have built in speakers unless it is 40 years old or has a picture of a cartoon character on the case - I wouldn't recommend either of these.

Some players have a MC or MM output that requies a phono amp (usually built into a receiver) and others have a built-in phono amp and a line level output. Go with a model that has the line level output. I've seen them at Best Buy for $75.

Then all you will need is a 1/8" female to (2) RCA male adapter and you will be able plug your 2.1 speakers directly into the record player and adjust the volume on the front of your powered speakers.

Good Luck!

is it alright to lay down my large stereo speakers on thier side (any damage to the woofers) 5ft tall?

It won't damage them, but they weren't engineered to produce sound in that configuration.

It may sound a bit worse, that's all.

I have a vintage set of Pioneer home stereo speakers. 2 large and 3-4 small ones. All wooden grain look.?

These work perfectly and are in great shape. Can someone please tell me how much these might be worth to sell?

They are only worth what someone is willing to pay you for them. Check with eBay or some other auction sites and see what they are going for.

I have a large stereo speaker. Can i hook it up to my pc and how do i do it without the stereo?

If it's just a regular stereo speaker, then there's no simple way to hook it up to your computer without a signal processor of some sort (That would be the Amplifier/Head unit of your stereo system.)

If you're interested in hooking your computer up to your stereo, you're going to need some sort of output from your compute that can be plugged into the AUX of your stereo.

Just with the speaker alone, you're out of luck.

  • Can We Justify Top Priced Stereo Speakers

My friends all make fun of me for the amount of audio appliances that I own.  Not only do i have the latest in surround sound receivers, but I have high end speakers which will just blow your intellect.  The sound is certainly unreal!  All my chums giggle at me they believe that it is a waste to have such high end audio speakers.  You see, all of us have the same taste in music.  We all like punk rock, metal, hard-core, and fundamentally anything that’s loud and raucous.  Why get high end stereo speakers, they ask, when you are listening to music that’s regularly heavily distorted?  Maybe I sound like a snob here, but I don’t think that my friends understand the class of the tunes that we are listening to.  Just because it is punk music, or metal, doesn’t mean that it is noise.  On the contrary, there is a large amount of subtlety and nuance in the tone that only good audio speakers can pick up.
