Monitor Audio Center Speakers

Both companies have good reputations in the audio world...So as far as a quality build, there's not much to worry about - both will last for years...

Styling is pretty nice on both models...The Polk's have aluminium enclosures which may or may nor fit your taste style wise...With the Monitors being wood, you'd have more choices of finishes...

But the ultimate deciding factor between any speakers is how they sound (duh)...If there's an audio shop nearby, take some personal CDs and take a close-up listen to them...Some audio purists will prefer the wood enclosures...

I've personally never been a big fan of Polk Audio...Not that they're bad, they've just never done anything for me...I've heard Monitors, and at their price point, I think they're some of the top choices...

Also check out Focal's SIB XL or B&W's PFM4's...Same kind of speaker you've mentioned, but sonically MUCH better...

Between Klipsch Synergy SLX center channel speaker and Polk Audio Monitor CS2 Center Channel Speaker , which one is recomended

Ideally your surround speakers (especially the front 3) should be "timbre matched" - aka have a similar tone.

So- if all your other speakers are Polks- than Polk is the way to go or vice versa.

I outfitted my parent's Home Theater with this exact setup. (minus the subwoofer, we used a Harmon Kardon TS5) You won't be disappointed if you love to watch Blu-ray's or DVD's, but if you are looking for audiophile surround.

I suggest Mirage OMD-15 package with a velodyne subwoofer.

I have and xbox 360 using Mad Catz HDMI Conversion kit with and HDMI out and Optical out. An HP W2408h monitor with a VGA in, HDMI in, Audio in and USB in. Altec Lansing ADA745 4.1 Speakers THX certified with 2 jacks (like the headphones tip) that has a converter to make it to 1 jack. A PC using the ASUS K8N-e deluxe motherboard that supports 7.1 has an S/PDIF out, rear speaker out, side speaker out, center sub woofer port, line in port, line out port, mic port.

Question, how do i get my xbox 360 to output sound on my speakers and headphones. I'm connecting my xbox 360 to the HP monitor via HDMI and only has sound on the built in HP speakers. I want it to come out of my speakers or headphones. Anyone know the setup for this?

Kudos for those who can fix this problem. I'll consider getting adapters or other peripherals to get the best out of this setup. As long as it's not that expensive.

since optical audio is a digital medium, and headphone jacks are analog, you would need a fairly complex and expensive setup to convert the signal. it would be much easier if the mad catz thing had RCA out, but alas, it does not.
