Any advice from someone who considers themselves an audiophile would be the most helpful. Thanks.

I outfitted my parent's Home Theater with this exact setup. (minus the subwoofer, we used a Harmon Kardon TS5) You won't be disappointed if you love to watch Blu-ray's or DVD's, but if you are looking for audiophile surround.

I suggest Mirage OMD-15 package with a velodyne subwoofer.

Help choose better 5.1 receiver + speakers.?

I need help to choose between these two 5.1 receivers and speakers. Here is my setup. I have xbox 360 + 1080p dvd player, but have a small room 11x11. For now, only have room for two speakers until I get a larger room in few years. I need speakers that produce full sound so I am stuck between the two below and the receivers. I need help to determine if they are compatible.

Look at the Yamaha HTR 6130. For $200, its a great receiver. As far as speakers go, I'd go with the Polk Audios.(though I prefer Infinity) Go to bpav.com

Which Computer Speakers?

My choices are mixed, both 2.1 and 5.1. All the speakers will be on my computer desk so would there be a difference between the two? Also the 2.1 has more W. The prices for #1, and 2 are the same. #3 is about $30 more. I'm not sure which one to get. I'll use the speakers for mostly movies and games.
The choices are.

i would say the Polk. They have really good lows. The JBL looks a little small.

How can I up the volume on stand alone Polk speakers that are connected to my 3 gig pc?

Recently, my HP LCD monitor with speakers of two years died on me. I had to switch to another monitor, one without speakers forcing me to use 10 year old Polk audio pc speakers in my 3.0 ghz, 3000 mhz HP custom pc that is running Vista.

They work, but the sound isn't loud enough. I went into all of the various boxes and moved everything to 100%, but still the sound is barely above mute. The only way one can hear is to stay quiet. It sounds like it is dialed at 15% instead of 100%. I feel that it is some sort of crazy Vista problem. I want to know does anyone have any tips on this? Thank you all in advance.

You would be best served to do some troubleshooting. Use an IPOD or another device to feed the speakers. Is the volume normal? If so the issue is indeed within the PC. If not, the speakers themselves have an issue.
