Monitor Audio Speakers

I have a monitor with 2 hdmi ports and a vga port. I have the xbox plugged into the monitor by hdmi cable but the sound isnt very good. How can I connect pc speakers to the monitor and/or xbox. The monitor also has an audio line in if this helps.

You can use the AV cable for just the audio if you want to use it that way. Sometimes people choose to do this if they want HDMI to their TV/Monitor while using the optical/RCA connections for sound. I just purchased a brand new eMachines computer from best buy. I got a screen and tower package that also included my speakers, keyboard and mouse. I'm trying to make it use both my speakers but it just won't work because I have
A) The speakers they gave me
and
B) The speakers built in the monitor.

Any way to fix this because I see no point in them selling you a deal with two sets of speakers.

I don't think they worry about two set of speakers. That is not their concern, and now the speakers become your problem. You can use a set of speaker, since using all four of them will not make the sound better unless you have a super powerful sound card and super nice speakers.

Well i have a monitor that has line in and line out (it has built in speakers) on the back of it. I do not want to use the monitors speakers, I want to use external speakers. My actual question is do I need to hook the red and white jacks on the Xbox 360 VGA cable to the RCA to 3.5mm jack then attach it to the line in on the monitor and then attach the external speakers to the line out on the monitor or can I just attach the RCA cables from the VGA cable (red and white) straight to the speakers without having to go through the monitor?

You may already have a cable....or you can buy them cheap at the dollar store. Plug one end into the monitor audio in jack and the other end into your headphone jack on the laptop.

do they work good with Pro Tools?
how is the sound on them?

1000? There's no need for 1000 watt reference monitors. Are you sure they're not stage monitors or even PA speakers?

A great sounding studio reference monitor set up should be about 60-100 watts a side, 6 inch woofer/1 inch tweeter, with an optional 100 watt 10-12 inch sub.
