Connecting wireless Speakers to PC?
Desk - 1st September '09

I just bought a Samsung Soundbar ht-x810 model, which has bluetooth capabilities (the subwoofer is wireless). I'm trying to figure out how to get my desktop to connect to it via bluetooth. Do I need to buy a bluetooth usb key? Or can I download a software somewhere for free? I know I can connect the PC sound card to TV and use it that way, but would much rather go wireless. Any tips would help. Thanks!

You need a bluetooth USB stick to connect to your Soundbar.
What happens is that your computer needs to stream music over bluetooth and the soundbar would connect to that bluetooth USB stick and receive the audio stream.

If I were you I'd much rather use a cable, and here's why:

I am sure that your sound card has 5.1. I am not sure whether you can really stream 5.1 compatible music streams through a bluetooth USB stick.

A cable is more reliable than any bluetooth wireless connection will ever be.

Bluetooth uses high frequency. If you also have a wireless router running and a DECT telephone, or your neighbor has these things, and you also have a cell phone, then you have enough high frequency radiation in your home already. Don't add to that by using bluetooth instead of a proper cable connection.

A cable can be listened to from outside your house, but a bluetooth connection can. Do you want everyone to know what you're listening to? I wouldn't. A cable is better.

can you get speakers with wireless headphones for your PC?
July 2009 Computer Setup

or something that would do the same job like something that would plug into the headphones socket and sent a signal to the wireless headphones!

about how much could you expect to spend on one?
no, im looking for a wireless headset and reciever or wireless headset and compatable speakers, not an adaptor!

Yes at most major retailers but of course that does mean that you will have to power them by battery which will add to the ongoing cost. They are around £20

Wireless audio to speakers in other room from pc?
Isolated desktop

I want the speakers in the other room to also be able to play music on. I want something I can send the audio wireless over there and that will not disable the speakers hooked up to my pc

If it can support surround sound that would be better.
also if you could allow it to only play audio from a player like windows media player and not play audio from an internet browser.
something of a reasonable price.
thanks

It would require iTunes, but the price is reasonable and you can put any speakers you want into it. Plus, it will share any printer and it's a Wifi access point. Only a hundred bucks too.

Although it is tough to find wireless speakers which are made completely to work with your personal computer most wireless speakers will be compatible with a computer. While many wireless speakers rated for either indoor or outdoor use are advertised as being compatible with your PC you really need to check them out to be sure. There are a few dedicated wireless PC speakers which work on radio frequency like the iConcepts Wireless RF Speakers produced by Sakar global. These wireless speakers have been made to work with both PC and Macintosh machines.

Most wireless speakers for computers will include two speakers in a set, a pair of wireless headphones, and a broadcast with an integral antenna. The antenna is what communicats between the PC and the speakers. A set like this will customarily go for around eighty greenbacks.
