Polk Audio Car Speakers

My car speakers have a constant buzz. There new Polk Car audio speakers. Is it a problem in the amp, too little power or to much? What will fix this?

Probably the wiring. Make sure that your speaker cables, and RCA cords are no where near the power cables for your amp. Also consider grounding all your electronics to any point on your car's chassis that is near their installation point.

Crutchfield reviews Polk Audiod db series car speakers.

Polk Audio Db 571 & Polk Audio Db 351. I have a 2003 VW Passat and it has a premium sound system but i already have a 12" sub with a pretty good amp in the back. The sub is pretty powerful. Will these speakers sound clear and have good bass?

Not really... Polk isnt a great quality company... if you want great sound quality im going to have to suggest Alpine... rember with car audio, you get what you pay for.... cheap components = cheap sound.

About a month ago I had 2 rear eclipse speakers installed in my car, and about 2 days ago they blew out. I have 2 polk audio speakers in the front, and they are starting to go bad, but I got those like 8 months ago. Does anyone know if there are any really high quality speakers out there that wont blow out easily? Does it matter what kind of cd player you have, cause I have an eclipse player. Does it matter if you have an amp or not?

I would go with any of the Infinaty Kappas. I just put 2 pairs in my Element with a Rockford Fosgate Amp to power them and they ROCK!!!!!

I am going to get whatever the majority says. I want great sounding speakers with great bass. I do not want want any subwoofers or amps because the police here in Va are crazy.
If there is a better brand please let me know

It is not that easy.

If you are keeping the factory head unit, you need speakers in the 15-30 watt RMS range.
If you have an aftermarket head unit, you nees speakers in the 25-45 watt RMS range.
If you have an amplifier for the interior speakers, you need to match up the RMS power of the amp to the RMS power of the speakers.

Look for a high sensitivity rating on the speakers, anything above 95dB 1W/1M is pretty good. If you are lookin for front speakers, and have an amplifier I recommend component speakers. Seperating the midbass from the tweeter broadens the soundstage for a better sound.

You can buy a $800 pair of speakers, but if you strain the amp on the radio trying to push them, you will hear the distortion.
If you buy a $10 pair of no name speakers that match the RMS rating of the radio or amp, they will sound better than the $800 pair on a strained radio.

i have 4 polk audio speakers in my car and they say they need 60rms and 180 peak. Right now my head unit is giving 22rms to each of them.

Will this harm the speakers?

You can run the speakers off the head-unit with only 22 WRMS, however, do not turn up the gains on the head-unit eg.) do not turn up the bass and treble settings.

Head-unit amp can be driven into clipping a lot easier than a dedicated amp.

For the best SQ possible get a dedicated amp.
