Polk Audio Pc Speakers

Recently, my HP LCD monitor with speakers of two years died on me. I had to switch to another monitor, one without speakers forcing me to use 10 year old Polk audio pc speakers in my 3.0 ghz, 3000 mhz HP custom pc that is running Vista.

They work, but the sound isn't loud enough. I went into all of the various boxes and moved everything to 100%, but still the sound is barely above mute. The only way one can hear is to stay quiet. It sounds like it is dialed at 15% instead of 100%. I feel that it is some sort of crazy Vista problem. I want to know does anyone have any tips on this? Thank you all in advance.

You would be best served to do some troubleshooting. Use an IPOD or another device to feed the speakers. Is the volume normal? If so the issue is indeed within the PC. If not, the speakers themselves have an issue.

They were wayy to loud for me anyways

my external polk audio pc speakers work but i have to strain to hear them. they do not get very loud even when all the settings are at max. the jacks plugged in all the way. they might be old but i doubt thats the problem, is it my sound card or do i just need new speakers? are their any known problems with hp computors and sound or polk audio?

click the speaker in your system tray and make sure the system volume is up
